Horns are 15 down and have only scored 12 points in nearly 15 minutes of play. Think they have 11 turnovers already.
Horns should be pissed right now. They are getting back into the game. Holmes cold cocked one of the WVU guys with an elbow to the jaw after he was pushed sharply in the back and got a flagrant 2. He's done for the night, but still Horns are fighting back. No call on the WVU guy who set a moving pick and shoved him.
I hate saying this... but, somehow, i feel like are chances to win increased after Holmes was ejected. Mike Finger tweeted earlier: "Barnes said he called Holmes at home the other day and the senior seemed 'depressed; about UT's slump. An ejection probably won't help."
More movement on offense than last game, which any movement would be more, but everything looks like a struggle. Nothing is smooth. Except that elbow; he smooth laid it on him.
I am worried about Holmes. Not necessarily his round ball game. I mean his health. I've mentioned this repeatedly over the last week or so. Since his concussion, his game is way off. Not just his shot, but his movement, feet, flow, alertness, instincts. He has been a leader in every way up until the injury. Post concussion symptoms can include depression, poor focus, etc. I know the team docs cleared him, but for his sake I wish they would do a thorough re-evaluation, including a neuro psych assessment.
I actually only caught in on the highlights, but they were fighting for position and Holmes clearly and intentionally laid an elbow to the jaw. Announcers said that Holmes was shoved first but they didn't show that. No excuse though, bad move.
I did see the whole replay, including the initial shove laid on Holmes by the WVU player, and it was serious and strong, knocked Holmes off balance and was an obvious foul. Holmes retaliated and was caught, which often happens. The guy who takes the first shot slides, but the one retaliating is caught.
