It's probably not mentally healthy for me to want this to work out for him as much as I do. The elation I would feel were he to get a shot and make a roster is unfathomable at this point. The reasons are many. I hope the acid indigestion that Jeff Fisher would feel that night he got signed would be justified and deserved.

I would like for there to be a magical ending to the Vince Young NFL story, watching him tuck it and run for the Super Bowl-winning TD as he flashes a hookem while crossing the goal line. A fan can dream.

    Go VY. :vy:

It would be magical enough for me if VY won a roster spot, got to play, pulled out a couple of wins for a team, made it to the playoffs and won a playoff game. That would be totally awesome for Vince, and likely secure a roster spot for him next year.

But no question a fairy tale ending would be:

It really shouldn't be such a long shot...but perhaps it is. That's because, in my judgment, VY has essentially been blackballed as a result of the way Fisher handled him. Think about it. Does his skill set differ much from that of a player like Kaepernick? VY is probably more talented than half of the starting QBs in the league.

The NFL is run by a good ole boy network. If it were not, there would have been a new commissioner after the debacle that was the 2014 season.

If VY is given a fair shot, he will catch on with some team, and do well.

My guess is that any maturity or attitude issues that might have existed in the past are probably behind Vince now. The only questions may be his skill and dedication to the game at this point, and I suspect that there is still a considerable amount of ability to work with.

I’d love to see him do well. It’s fun watching him play ball.

    :hookem: Vince.

I cannot figure out how this guy didn't land on someone's roster over the last few years. Good luck VY!

I'm curious how many players get signed from this combine? Doesn't the league minimum go up for players with multiple years in the league? I'll never begrudge any player for pursuing their dream but I'd be that most of the players are longshots at this camp. The ones with the greatest potential are probably players that were pushed out of the NFL due to injury and can prove they've recovered enough to still be a good contributor.

I don't know, but I'd think somebody would be interested in a guy with a 30-17 record as a starter. There are plenty of QBs in the league with lesser numbers.

I refuse to believe that VY cannot still contribute to a team in some way, even if not as a starter. Assuming he really wants it and is willing to put in the work.

At age 32 when his legs were always his best asset? The fact that he hasn't stuck in Philly or GB can't be helping his case for whatever reasons they released him. I still think there is more to the story that 4 teams have walked away from him.

Staubach and Tarkington were good scramblers up into their 30's. I don't think Vince has had any serious injuries to his wheels. Randal Cunningham was also very good running into his 30's. Vince doesn't have that many miles on him. If he loses some weight and gets into shape, who knows.

Did anyone see what Bruce Arians said recently? The gist of it is that he was extremely critical of "spread" QBs being able to step into a huddle and call an NFL play. He flatly stated that they are all massively confused with the complexity of an NFL play call and immediately lack credibility with the other offensive players.

I'm not saying this is applicable to VY but would explain Kaepernick and Geno Smith. They both look completely lost most of the time. Once teams started forcing Kaep to pass and took away his legs he's been ineffective.

^That definitely applies to Bob Griffin.

I don't recall us running an offense during VY's tenure where the offense would line up and then look to the sideline for the rest of the play call. I remember them huddling up and VY calling a play.

We never ran a true spread offense. It was a zone read with VY running more and Colt passing more.

Jeff Fischer must have been the coordinator of the event.
