Lauren Cox visited Louisville this past weekend for their game against North Carolina.

A few years ago, she was quoted as saying she wanted to play in the Big 12. But, the only summer camp she has attended was at Duke a couple of summers ago. And, while it seems her parents must have the financial means for all this national travel, her recent visits to places like Notre Dame suggest to me that she will be headed out of state. Might have also tripped to UConn. None were official visits.

She has attended our games and the game in Waco last month, OU game(s), and maybe even A&M game(s). So, it's not like she doesn't have interest in local schools.

I remember her saying she wanted to play in the big 12 years ago (I hope that stays true...as long as it's Texas)! I remember Joyner Holmes stated that she didn't want to go far from home as well.

“But Cox was even better as she piled up a triple-double with 26 points, 21 rebounds and 10 blocks. She stole passes into the post, led fast breaks and found ways to score despite being sandwiched by two defenders every time she got near the basket.”

    Plano 59 Duncanville 48
For Duncanville: Zarielle Green, 17 pts & Ciera Johnson, 17 pts

Plano and Flower Mound will meet in the regional quarterfinals. They will play at Hebron High at 7 PM on Tuesday, 02/24/15.

Plano West 71 Euless Trinity 54
    Natalie Chou-18 pts

Plano West will play Cedar Hill at Highland Park Tuesday at 6:30 pm. That should be a fun game to watch two of the top 15 rated 2106 HS players playing.

"Girls basketball player of the week (2/23): Flower Mound's Lauren Cox"

"What she did: Cox scored 31 points in Flower Mound’s Class 6A Region I bi-district win Tuesday over Justin Northwest. On Friday, in the area round, she recorded a triple-double — 26 points, 21 rebounds, 10 blocks — as Flower Mound outlasted Southlake Carroll 61-55 in overtime."

Natalie Chou was one of several players that were honorable mention: averaged 24.5 a game in bi-district and area rounds.

Lauren's pretty tough. Her team played Plano West much closer the second game. Wonder if the third time will be the charm? Strange to read that they are playing to go to San Antonio. Threw me for a minute before I remembered that the state finals are now in SA.

1, 2, 13 & 18 would be nice additions to come in with Alecia Sutton. That would be one tough starting five at some point.

That would be a great class. I just get the feeling that Cox and Chou are headed out of state.

We'll be losing Brady, Celina, Imani, and Empress. Hattis' scholarship status confuses me as it changes every year from volleyball to hoops.

I'd be pleased with #2 PF Joyner Homes, #13 C Felicia Aiyeotan, #22 F Jada Underwood (ACL injury this past season), and #37 C Ciera Johnson to join PG Alecia Sutton.

2017 has some elite guards in Texas, so perhaps we go heavy with front court players in 2016 in order to emphasize back court players the following class.

That would work, too. Joyner, like Jordan in 2015, is likely to be able to play on the wing as well. Kelsey and Lilley will be seniors so we need post players in 2016, even with Diani and Christina on board.

Wonder if this means that UConn is in the list of nine or if Geno is trying to make a list of ten? Hoping Texas is on that list.

Cox down to 9 schools...UConn, Baylor, Oklahoma, Texas, South Carolina, Notre Dame, Louisville, A&M, and Tennessee

I have a hunch this is a TX, OU and Baylor battle. She has stated she wants to play in the Big12 and I just can't see her going far from home...she is very close to her sisters.

I hope you're right, but that was 2 years ago when she said she wanted to play in the Big 12. She has taken unofficial visits to Louisville and Notre Dame this winter, and she attended Duke's summer camp a couple of years ago.

According to the article Duke is off her list. We will see though!

Looks like the only USA teams Lauren and Joyner will be eligible for is the FIBA U19 World Championship, the FIBA 3x3 U18 World Championship and the USA Basketball 3x3 National Tournament. Lauren was born on April 20, 1998. Joyner was born on 02/22/1998.

Wonder if they will be selected for one of those and, if not, which summer camp they will attend? I do not think Lauren has attended a Texas summer camp due to conflicts with USA basketball obligations. I am not sure about Joyner.

I think Louisville is currently the favorite for Lauren Cox.

Good news, Jada Underwood has committed to Texas. Really good player, reminds me a lot of Danielle Gant, who played at a&m. She is also Tasia's cousin and very good friends with Joyner Holmes.

Great news. Prospectsnation currently has Jada at #22 overall but her recruitment has been quiet. I like the descriptions of her game.
