I lied. Looking at my chicken scratch notes.....It was only by 8 then she came out. As hot as Ariel was I think she should have stayed in at that time even with 4 fouls.

Looking at the stats, it's hard to say where we went wrong. I still don't like our substitutions. Players can't get into a rhythm. And as far as I am concerned, Lang and Stafford should be on the floor together more. I know everyone wants to point to Nneka's going out as the reason for such a fall but when your top rebounder and shot blocker goes out with an ACL, you would think 6'7" coming back in would negate the loss. You would think... This team... this program... remains maddening to follow. I will never root against them, but I am not sure how much longer I'll give a damn. Ha. Wishful thinking. I'll be here year after year. Glutton for punishment.

Agree. Keep her in as long as you can that late in the game.

You can certainly blame coach Aston for some of the issues but the players deserve blame as well. Watching the team play they just are very erratic a lot of the times. And do things that are not very smart. You can play fast but still under control and make good decisions. Controlling things that you can control like making layups, hitting free throws down the stretch and not turning it over so many times.

Could coach Aston run better plays at the end of the game? Yes, but in my opinion they need a player who can create and get their own shot off the dribble consistently. A player who you don't have to run any plays for they can just takeover a game down the stretch.

And I wish some of you would makeup your mind. One minute someones complaining about too many substitutions. Then the next minute someone is asking why Tasia didn't play more. Makeup your damn mind.

Up by 14 with about 5 minutes to go, I thought perhaps they'd turned the corner as a team. Confident. Playing up to their talent level. Then -- the meltdown we've seen all too often (for the men and the women). We have the talent. What gives? Why can't we finish games (with perhaps the exception of OU)? When there's pressure, this team plays panicked and reckless. With the season almost over, turnovers haven't improved. So frustrating to watch this team give away games they could easily win. And I'm still baffled by some of the substitutions. I guess that's one reason I don't get paid to coach or comment on basketball because I don't get it. And with this heartbreaking loss, they all but guarantee a crappy crowd for their last home game on Tuesday.

Obviously, Tasia is deep on the bench so if she is getting playing time that means Brooke, Krystle and even Celina have probably already gotten an opportunity to play. Which means there is going to be a lot of substitutions. I just don't understand when you say that the players need to get into a rhythm. The starters are playing right round or over 25 minutes a game. Look at the starters minutes in this game.

I really don't want to re-watch the last few minutes of the game. But, it sure seemed as if WVU was getting a lot more layups off assists late in regulation than they were the prior 34 minutes; not sure if that's because we switched to man-to-man defense from zone. Conversely, we weren't getting the ball inside down the stretch.

Unless we can win a couple more games, we're most likely slated for that dreaded 8/9 seed in the NCAA tourney.

Here's a piece of my "damn mind"...... yes Tasia went in as a sub quite early in the game and did fine, after one mistake from Krystal (possibly Celina). So why sub her out????? She didn't do anything but play good defense! That's what we needed as there were so many turnovers by us that WV was scoring from. Why the hell sub her? Of course there are some players who make several mistakes that are overlooked and some make one and are pulled. So why is that some can get into a RYTHM through their mistakes and some can't? That's the point that was being made.

8 points (from Brady, Bri or whoever) didn't cost us the game towards the end alone. There were 12-14 points made off of turnovers earlier. That can't be over looked if you're going to nit-pick every missed shot. Then you would also need to nit pick all the stupid fouls we gave to put them at the line- that would be 24 pts on Ft's alone.

I do agree with needing a player who can create a shot of the dribble. We don't have one recently, so maybe next years star freshman can give that to us!

Bring on the tourneys. It seems we play better against better teams (Baylor at home, Ags, Tennessee, OU at home, ISU at home) We play down to a weaker teams level for some reason. It drives me crazy, but we do!!!!

It's simple Taghorns, your going to give the players who give you a better chance to win a longer rope. Some don't like it but it's just the facts. Ariel had 6 turnovers today but a coach is going to give her more wiggle room than a backup or bench player because she gives you a better chance to win. You make some good points though and I agree let's finish strong against TCU and bring on the tourneys.

We have a dozen players averaging a dozen plus minutes. When I say a rhythm, I'm talking about a team/group rhythm. We get so many more points from the bench than most other teams because we go to the bench far more often than most other teams. If they are not in foul trouble let them play! You say Foman is deep on the bench and yet she was in within the first few minutes. And then she was out. And then she was in. In all my years of watching the game I have never seen such inconsistency when it comes to who is on and who Is off the court. We have been all over the map all season. When you are up by 14 points with 5 to go, let it ride for god's sake. It's maddening. But hey what do I know? I know WV had 4 players that played pretty much the entire game. Same with Baylor. Same with Iowa State. We are the exception and not the rule...

And for the record, I actually think our bench could compete as well as our starters, We are that good. I truly feel this has been about execution. We let other teams determine how we will play rather than establishing our game and putting our opponents on their heels.

At the beginning of the year coach Aston wanted to be a press and run team. When you play that type of style it is important to play and have a lot of depth to keep players fresh. If you've ever watched Kentucky on the women's side or the old Arkansas teams, having depth is very important. Once the injuries occurred we couldn't play that style anymore. Which is why we've been playing 8 players for the most part for awhile now. Celina, Tasia and even Krystle don't get anywhere near the minutes that they got at the beginning of the year. Empress played 36 minutes Ariel 35, Brooke 31, Imani 30 .That seems like 4 players who played pretty much the entire game to me. You can continue to talk about substitutions over and over again, will just continue to agree to disagree.

When you play in a conf where almost every team plays a 4 guard offense and that fourth guard is usually a really good shooter, you better match up with that. Outside of Imani in my opinion the bench couldn't compete has well as the starters. Who's going to make a perimeter jump shot? There's a reason why the best perimeter shooters on the team are starting. This team should be a top 25 team but they are not as good as some people think they are.

It was a 45 minute game.

Look at the minutes for the team that beat us. 45, 45, 43, 35 (fouled out)

We have a losing record in the conference so you are correct. We are not as good as some people think we are. I am some people.

We definitely don't press as much as we used to; seems like we only do that when we are behind. Perhaps a bit of light press would make the opposition use more a of the shot clock and have a more difficult time getting into their offense. But, you have to have depth, and not be in foul trouble as a team.

I'm of the opinion that when a player picks up a foul, they need to be pulled out of the game. Not because they made a mistake; but to simply avoid picking up a subsequent foul quickly simply out of frustration. That is even more important if it is a player's second foul in the first half. Some players are mature and can be trusted to remain on the court and play smart, but not all.

The rotation among Brooke, Krystle, Celina, and Tasia has been very confusing to me. Like others, I feel much more comfortable with Brooke on the court at PG; but, she can't play ever minute, especially when in foul trouble. Krystle is the next best option, IMO, as she is a senior, and can knock down the 3-pointer consistently. Celina is just hit or miss; never know what we're gonna get. Tasia, at this point, doesn't add a lot on the court; while she is quick, she is not playing well offensively in conference play, and seems to just throw up off balance layup attempts.

Moooooo, you have a point about Krystle and she has been the primary backup pg in the 8 player rotation we've been playing. But you don't have to have a good team or group rhythm to play under control and make good decisions as a point guard. TCU is a team that brings a lot pressure and if Krystle or the other pg's don't handle it well Celina will probably get playing time today because she is a 3 year veteran leader at the position.

Been debating to post on this page. Not really sure what kind of page this is yet..seems like a page for only some players. Been reading posts . Now one on here has a clue about the AAU world , how MDAA on the girls side is picked . All players picked are good players but the title doesn't make u a champion . If there are players on the team and nothing is expected of them that effect will trickle down . Some of the players that " bring nothing to the court" are not even the position you think they are anymore. Tasia is no longer a pg by choice.Tasia was only a pg at Duncanville in her jr yr is because she was the best ball handler . fact . Prior yrs she was a 2 all aau she was a 2 small for a 2 yes .go back and check stats for her soph yr and see who was highest scorer on the team.fact Who was high scorer in first state game fact. Time on the floor has nothing to do with what some are able to do and have done on the court. Knew what she was getting into Check post for Baylor for 2014 recruits . Teams win championships . Most likely won't post again. Still not sure if fan board

@Fanofafan — Maybe I misunderstand your comments here, but Hornfans is a Longhorns fan site. There are various forums here for different UT sports (link to the forums page below) and other non-sports forums as well. If you have any questions you’d like answered privately just click on my avatar picture to the left and then click “Start a Conversation” and I’ll be happy to explain further if that would be helpful for you.

Well I can certainly say that I have an idea of the AAU world having coached in it in addition to HS. And I can tell you that as far as Tasia goes, Im sure there are some things that she can do from the 2 spot but she shouldnt even be playing at this level IMO. Its like recruiting a 5 stars 3 star twin brother to make sure you get the 5 star. Not that she's a bad player by any means, just not UT good. Especially at the 2 position. The pg role is the only way she would and should every even sniff playing time with this group.

From the looks of the games that have been lost who is UT good. Lol that's your opinion . But anyway this is a private fan board . Just don't try and blame the losses on a player that hardly plays. If she brings nothing to the team them how do you go from top 3 to not even top 25... not from the bench because they don't do anything anyway. Like Said team win championships . What UT good is your opinion because numbers are facts. I just brought her name up because I didn't feel there was a need to belittle her as a player when her few min was not the factor in the loss. She played defense and had a assist in 4 min what should be done in that little bit of time. UT good lol.. That's thats part of the problem ...team should be still in top ten at least. Coaching AAU has nothing to do with the world I'm talking about .Nike runs AAU and if u don't understand what I mean by that then you have no clue as to what I meant when I said that. Any good luck to the girls the rest of the season. All is not lost. Next year will have 5 MDAA we should be a can't miss team.

It would be nice for to know names . So at least when in that lonestar room you can know who is smiling in your face , but don't really think nothing about you behind your back . Social media is scary . You don't have to reply I really don't want to be a part of your forum came on here by mistake as a fan to get info and updates and ran into a bunch of idol worship and player bashing ... But hey that's the benefits of being private and hide behind made up names. Maybe it would help her if you told her and others to their face what you really think of them. since you were a coach you could help them move on and not waste their time trying to be UT good . And are you meaning UT good now or back in the 80's and 90's .

Who's blaming Tasia for anything? I think some people were just making observations. I certainly think Tasia can play and be successful at the high D1 level. We can't have it both ways, we wan't the women to be treated the same as the men when it comes to sports but anytime someone says something about a women's player some people get offended. Go over to the men's basketball board and see what they say about players and coaches or any mens board for that matter and this board is like a church board compared to that and no one has a problem with it. But the women should be treated the same as the men. This is big time D1 basketball if you don't want anyone saying anything I'm pretty sure the fans at the D2 or Naia schools won't say anything.

You can say what you want. I am not even sure if I was replying to you. I could go back on post before anyone knew who anyone was and most posts on this site contradict their own posts. I didn't say you were blaming her. I was referring to the comment that she brings nothing to the court or what ever I simply stated that with that limited of playing time was that comment even needed. And I don't need to go to a d2 or any other school as if something is wrong with those schools anyway. I guess u mean because this is d1 ... Well facts are her 4 min here and there are not the reason from # 3 to number what . Like an said this is a private site and you can say what you want. It's just a little scary that these same posters are in person , maybe even talking to players smiling but think something else. The same way you said what u wanted I said what I wanted ..don't see the problem like I said this is not a site for family or friends of players to find insite and updates on the team. Forgive me I am used to something different. Lol "go to a d1or naia" let our girls get back on top before we get so uppity ..anyway sorry to intrude on your Fansite. It clearly was not my intention to upset anyone.Like I said I thought it was also a place for family and friends of players. Sorry to offend

Funny how we keep getting top recruits.

If you're looking for basic stats and marketing fluff go to Texassports.com

If you are looking for fans who celebrate when we win and complain when we lose, come here. Most of us just think the girls should win every game - not because we have unrealistic expectations , but because we honestly think UT and its students are the best at everything. :yippee::hookem2:

Well, I'm the one who made the comment about Tasia which apparently ruffled some feathers. The exact statement I made was:

" Tasia, at this point, doesn't add a lot on the court; while she is quick, she is not playing well offensively in conference play, and seems to just throw up off balance layup attempts."

I did not say that she "adds nothing". Each player Coach A sends onto the court is expected to contribute in some way. Maybe it's not always scoring points. But, Tasia's shot selection, even in limited conference plays, has been awful, IMO. If she is being sent in for her defensive skills, then so be it.

Stop it, you know what I'm saying. The coach is making over 5 hundred thousand dollars for a reason. The players came because it's the University of Texas and they wanted to help get the program back to where it once was and get an education. The program isn't where it should be but it's still a big time program. If you can't deal with the critiquing or observations or what some dumb poster said they probably don't do that very much at the D2 or Naia schools.
