a devistating loss like the Cowboys loss last Sunday?

After McCoy was lost in the Championship game v Bama?

    After the Texas Tech Loss?

Georgia loss in 84 Cotton Bowl.

Many other devastating losses during Romo era. (With that said, I have enjoyed having Romo as the Cowboy QB.

I was just curious. Not to make fun of anyone, because I probably could have used some professional help a few times. Just if you feel like sharing. Thanks.

I don't expect much from the Cowboys, so I wasn't crushed.

When Green Bay challenged Dez' catch (and it was a catch; what the hell is a "football move"? I guess they thought Dez was baking cookies instead of making a football move) I got up before the ruling and left the room; went about my business. Some things I just know, so I just move on.

I have been angry after some Longhorn losses though, and I'm sure I took it out on others, so maybe I could have used counseling.

The answer is "YES" to the McCoy loss and the 84 Cotton loss. I got help from a professional bartender both times.

I think a lot of people required therapy during the Makovic era. Crazy though how his teams won the last SWC title and the first Big XII championship. But, I know I just could not wait to see him gone. That Big XII championship gave him one extra year. I sure hope this does not turn into one of those types of era's.

Some Horn buddies can vouch that after both of those loses I considered professional psychological help but like Bevo Joe, I instead sought quiet counsel from a personal friend, Mr. Jack Daniels. [IMG]

Couldn't sleep the night of the '08 Tech loss. I kind of moped around for a few days.

The way that one happened just crushed me. Two UT players right there to make a tackle on Crabtree and they didn't do anything. And, of course, Blake Gideon's dropped INT which would have ended the game. Not to mention poor clock management on the last UT drive.

But, no I just suffered silently. That's what I do.

Plus Shipley dropping a TD pass, plus Orakpo getting injured, plus Cosby getting injured....

Spurs losing to Fisher's buzzer beater is up there too, or their game 6 loss to Miami last year, but in both those cases, they made up for it the next year.

This is the only game in any sport that I still am close to being in denial over:

That poor Green Bay Packer player dropping that onside kick brought back memories of Gideon dropping the interception. I am sure a few of the GB fans were feeling our pain. Kept them from going to the Super Bowl and kept the Horns from playing for the MNC. Well, that and help from Art Briles.

Another game that stuck with me for a while wat the Texas KSU game in Colts first year when he got hurt. Thought for sure the Horns were going to play for the MNC that year.

Of course the Colorado-UT game was brutal too. That was another opportunity for Texas to play in the MNC game along with the following year when the Horns got beat by Tech.

I think the team in Chris Simms Senior season was one of their best ever, but blew the OU game and the Tech game.

Oooooh, the pain of it all.

Isn’t it strange how affected we fans can be over these games? I remember getting so pissed off about the OU blowouts and then trying to have a rational moment where I think this is utterly stupid to be so bothered by a football game. Why is that?

The MNC game against Bama was such a heartbreaker because we had a great shot at winning another title with Colt in there. To have a freakish incident like that with a key player was just a huge WTF. I recall my Macallan consumption that night escalated a bit at that point.

The hardest part of that game for me to get over was how well it started. Defense got a stop, the fake punt failure by Bama and then the offense looked as smooth as they ever did, especially after the way they looked against the Huskers. Mack had the team prepared from what it seemed and I don't think he ever got over that loss. He wanted it so badly because he was so tired of hearing the only reason he won a national championship was because of Vince. I too wanted it badly for him.

I was so quietly confident when the Horns went into that game with Bama that they would win (provided they didn't do a bunch of TO's). Sure enough, it looked like the Horns were prepared, focused and they had the blueprint on O and D to WIN THAT GAME. Bama looked out of sync - they were on their heels early.... but fate stepped in.

It took me a long time to get over it. I have watched the replay of that game once. It could not watch it a second time.

Again, my good friend Jack stepped in and calmed me off the ledge....

If "yes" was the answer to the original post question, then one should really evaluate their priority in life.

    A game is a game.

The '84 Cotton Bowl loss to Georgia is my low water mark. The '83 'Horns were the best college defensive team in the history of collge football.

I still remember those two calls that cost us a Nat'l Championship. The McIvor pass, in field goal range, that was intercepted and the muffed punt catch by Mossy Cade who had not fielded a point all year.

For those not familiar, read about that defense.

For me, not that much, since we had a title the year prior and then won another the very next year - plus it was pretty satisfying seeing Shaqobe finally break apart and go at each other's throats against Detroit (a very Spurs-like team and organization at the time anyway). Plus, Duncan's shot before that was pretty lucky too, so it's not like I felt that fate had screwed us over ala Colt in 2009, it was just more of how quickly the game went from "we're gonna lose" to "omg we've won" to "we actually just lost" again.

Old '65 Horn - I was there vs. GA '84.

Unfortunately, DB Craig Curry muffed the punt, not Cade.... don't want Cade to unfairly get the blamed for that one.:(

Thanks for re-opening an old wound. I tried burying that memory deep within my subconscious but missed and accidentally placed in my Parietal Lobe. Consequently, every New Year's Day my body involuntarily convulses for several hours.

In addition to the above I have always been bummed out over an attempted block of a kick by Colorado. I was in a room with a couple of people rooting for Colorado. That took several therapy sessions to get over.

OleHorn - I didn't mention '01 Colorado game but that took A LOT of counseling with Mr. Jack and anger management classes to get past. In 2013, I finally threw away the Chris Simms voodoo doll I had on the shelf.

I haven't, but I was inconsolable for two weeks after the Georgia loss 31 years ago. Moped around the house, lost weight etc.. That's when I realized I need to quit taking this stuff so seriously for the sake of my health.

    4th_floor Dude, where's my laptop?

The inaugural Big 12 Championship win was the best psychological therapy for me. That James Brown to Derek Lewis pass still eases my pain. I can still remember screaming "NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, YEAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!"
