The count goes full and a high fly to shallow center is one away.

Hinojosa has two swinging K's so far and still in a hitting funk.
A ground ball goes to second and a 4-3 second out is recorded.

    Barrera up with two down.
He walks as the video went down for me.

Marlow up with two down and one on.
Another full count reached and Barrera is off and Marlow goes fishing and K's swinging to retire the side.

Texas gets one back and Stanford leads 5-3 halfway through this one.

An inside pitch plunks him to put him on.

Locher bats with two down and one on.

Dekroeger goes and Barrera guns him down to retire the side on the steal attempt

He bats righty with two on and two down.
He also walks to load the bases on free passes.

Shaw bats with the bases loaded.
The pitching coach comes out and you expect him to go to a left hander here against Shaw.
    That is the case.

    Pitching change.

As expected a left hander is on the mound for Stanford is Chris Castellanos.

The lefty hitting Shaw steps in to face him with the bases loaded and two away.
Big at bat for the Horns and Shaw.
He K's swinging and that retires the side.

Texas has had their chances and just can't get it done or even put the ball in play.
Stanford leads 5-3 to the bottom of the sixth.

A new pitcher for Stanford is yet another big righty in Colton Hock in the seventh.

Hinojosa still not going well at the plate leads off for the Horns.
The count as it often has runs full and he is issued another walk.
Stanford keeps giving the Horns chances and they need to take advantage.

    Barrera up with one on.
A high pop up to first is the first out.

Marlow up with one down and one on.
A flair off the end of the bat is caught on a slide by the center fielder for two away.

Boswell bats with two gone and one on.
A balk is called on Hock and Hinojosa goes to second.
    Another chance to score now.
And another K, this time looking ends another scoring shot as that is ten K's on the night for Texas.

They stretch at the Sunken Diamond and Stanford leads 5-3.

Mayes back out the hill for the Horns after he retired the side in order last inning.

Nine hole hitter Carter leads off from the right side.
A pop foul on the left side and Johnson on the run and a slide by the fence makes the nice catch as Ben sparkles in the field and the bat.

One down for Edman and he flies to center for two away.

Branton up from the right side with two down.
He is hit by a curve ball that didn't break to end Mayes's perfect outing.

Out comes Skip and he wants a lefty from the pen.

    Pitching change.

Hock out again for the Cardinal.

Cantu leads off for the Horns.
A fly ball to right is a out one.

    Gurwitz up with one away.
A ground ball to short and an errant throw wide of the bag at first is an E-6 to put him on.

Stell bats with one on and one down.
A 3-0 count brings out the pitching coach once more and the stall is on for the bullpen.
He goes back to the dugout and the count goes full one more time.
A fly ball to right down the line and the right fielder drops it for another error to put the tying runs on.
Gurwitz was going back to first and only reached second.

That brings up the still red hot Johnson and the pitching coach comes out again to get Hock.

    Pitching change.

Left hander Logan James is in to pitch for Stanford.

Johnson with three hits and a walk is up.
Ben with two long homers tonight.
The tying runs on with one down for him as Texas has yet another chance for a big inning.
A one hopper to second is a 4-6 force as Ben beat the relay is two down.

Shaw up from the left side against the lefty pitcher with runners on the corners and two away.
Another called strike three retires the side again with nothing across.

What can you say? Texas has had every chance given to them and just hasn't gotten it done.

So Stanford leads 5-3 to the bottom of eight.

James tries to close it out for Stanford in the ninth.

Hinojosa leads off without a hit tonight as he has been struggling with the bat.
He lines one off the end of the bat down the line in right and it's a lead double.

Barrera with good power is the tying run with one on.
Another full count and he swings at a high change for one away.
    That was ball four.

Marlow bats with one on and one down.
A wild pitch moves Hinojosa to third.
He swings at three pitches out of the zone for another K and two away.

Joe Baker will pinch hit for Boswell as Texas is down to it's last out.
    Another wild pitch scores Hinjosa.

    Stanford leads 5-4.

Baker back in from the right side with two down.
He walks on four pitches as James is all over the place and yet has two outs.

Cantu bats with two away and the tying run at first.
A ground ball goes by the second baseman for a single to put two on.
Mathis in to run for Cantu.

So Gurwitz bats with two on and two down and the tying run in scoring position.
He walks on four pitches to load the bases.

Stell up with two down and the bases loaded.
The pitching coach out and leaves him in.
A hump back liner and the second baseman goes back and makes the catch to end the game.

Stanford wins the opener 5-4 as Texas leaves the bases loaded again. They left 14 men on base and struck out 13 times.

That tells the tale and it's hard to watch a game like this. This looked liked a couple of the games against Rice as Texas struck out time and time again with chances to have a big inning and win.

All you can do is come back tomorrow and try again. But it's sure was a frustrating game. :brickwall:
