On a night that was cold and at times, there was even some snow flurries, the Texas bats were just as cold. They produced only three hits. They got the first two on in the eighth on a single and a walk, the Horns put down a sac bunt.
Texas has been not using the sac bunt nearly as much this year. They didn't when they got their first runner on tonight, when the score was still 0-0. Then you do in the eighth, with two on in front of your nine hole hitter, while behind 3-0.
Just seemed kind of odd to me, to give up an out when the pitcher was struggling.

French was sailing along till the fifth and then had his worst inning of the year. Nebraska had some hard hit balls and some that weren't and scored all three of their runs. It was plenty to win this game as the Nebraska starter Sinclair, had shut down the Horns till the eighth. Texas had two of their three hits in the last two innings, but produces just the one run.

Maybe it was the weather or the Nebraska pitching, but Texas never looked comfortable at the plate all night. The Horns will have to battle now, after losing with their ace on the mound. Hopefully the weather and the bats will warm up the rest of the weekend. They will need to if Texas is to come back and win the series. :hookem:

It appears this team (like me) doesn't like the cold weather--they didn't look good against San Diego at home either. Fortunately the temperatures are a lot warmer in Nebraska in June.

This is a Nebraska team that, if we really feel we are Omaha contenders, we should sweep.

I don't think we're Omaha contenders yet--but I didn't think we were Omaha contenders this time last year either. Hope springs eternal.
