I'm more of a history nut than a scientist, so I really enjoyed the historians take on Ted Cruz Global Warming Position.

I actually think Cruz offers pretty much the political gold standard in the Republican Party. I don't think a GOP candidate has a prayer if he says "Scientific Evidence indicates we should approach climate change as a serious issue in which US public policy might actually have a significant role."http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...limate-skepticism-and-historians-arent-happy/

Ted Cruz is small potatoes. I can't wait to see how much $$ he scams off his supporters in his completely fruitless attempt for the White House. He's a joke, his supporters are being scammed like an email from Nigeria. I love it.

I've watched a few television interviews and I'm less willing to dismiss Cruz as irrelevant than I used to be. He says all the Right things to excite the Republican base, but he takes hardball questions from the national media and answers them well. I said when we first started hearing noises the Rick Perry might run for president that I'd cheerfully contribute to his campaign if he would resign as governor before making the run. I made the offer with complete confidence that Perry would look like an idiot speaking or being interviewed by anyone who doesn't already adore him.
Cruz is inexperienced and has some extremist baggage. But he is poised and sounds smart when talking on TV. He has a fast chip and a lot of RAM.

I think you overestimate his appeal. He's small potatoes, no chance. His schtick is to repeal obamacare...Busch league.

To carry this analogy further in that direction ------ A complete memory hierarchy for a powerful computer also must have a lot of nonvolatile memory, e.g., a lot of hard disk space. He is in short supply with that kind of memory. The biggest problem for Cruz is that he does not have a lot of long term memory to back himself up. This will cause him to make some stupid mistakes along the way.

Plus he's a lightweight with a giant ego.

The media basically thinks all conservatives are dumb, and there certainly are some very vocal idiots of the Right. However, not all conservatives are like that, though the media rarely, if ever gives them credit for being intelligent. Cruz is a Princeton and Harvard Law alumnus, whom Alan Dershowitz has called one of the smartest students he has ever had. Cruz isn't just smart. He's brilliant and quick on his feet, and unlike most conservatives who speak in public, he's smarter than the reporters asking him questions. In fact, that's one of the things that made me vote for him over Dewhurst. I was hoping to get someone who would contribute something other than the mindless idiocy spouted by hacks like Sarah Palin or Rick Perry and bring a degree of intellectualism back to conservative politics. Unfortunately, despite his powerful intellect, he hasn't done that and may have done the opposite, because though he's very smart, he appeals to stupid people.

Do I regret voting for him over Dewhurst? No, but am I disappointed in him? Yes.

Dick Morris echos what you say about his intelligence after having dinner with him. this VIDEO. The real problem that Cruz has is that the Koch brothers power base will not go for him. His financial money-well will dry up after the main media cuts him down.
