Being reported that it could be final tonight. That did not take long.

Good for Rick, I guess. I hope he does well wherever he lands.

    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

From the best UT to another UT and he can use his same wardrobe unless the item is a burnt orange.

From The Eyes of Texas and Texas Fight! to Rocky Top?

He will get tired of the annoying Rocky Top song. Hell, I get tired of it just during one Tenn. football game.

    I wish him well.

Wow. That was a quick change of address. Wish him well but think the Horns will be better off with the change.

It is sort or a Win-Win for him. Again it is a football school and the Men's program will always be in the shadow of the Women's program. Good luck Coach.

Not too shabby. Out of work one day and walking in tall cotton again the next.

I hope he kicks the *** of that smarmy Bruce Pearl (prev. Tenn, now Auburn) over and over.

As much as I thought it was time for him to go, I think he will be a great fit at Tennessee. They've gone thru four coaches in six years all with their own issues leaving the program in mediocrity. Rick will bring discipline, more consistency and improve the quality of the program. I think he'll be more energized with the change and also bring back excitement and competitiveness.

Within three years I see him beating Kentucky occasionally and losing in the first couple rounds of the tourney and that will be OK for that program until he is ready to retire. Then hopefully they will be ready for the next step similar to Texas.

Great move for him and good hire for them. They need a class character guy to help them out of their current mess. Rick should get them into (and immdiately out of) the tourney every year. Too soon!?

What are the chances now that Tennessee is announced as our SEC / Big 12 game next fall?

And the game will be played in Austin. Wouldn't that be something.

It's final now. Announced Barnes was hired by Tennessee this morning. Good hire and good luck coach Barnes. Funny though. Barnes again in conference where his best likely finish is second place. :bevo:

He will retire before he gets 16 NCAA Tournaments in 17 years at Tennessee, but I would expect the same percentage.

It was time to move on from Texas, but no one should downplay his contributions.

He won't be facing the murderer's row every game like he did in the Big 12. Should eventually be successful in the sec.

I would be surprised if he does not finish in the top 4 (probably top 3) of the SEC every year. I'd argue only Florida and Kentucky have better coaches right now.

What? The Bix XII is no murderers row. The conference was exposed during the tourney. If there were that many great teams at least one would have made a run this year. Seven teams dont have "off games" at the same time.

Maybe we'll catch Tennessee in the first round of the Tournament some day and get to the round of 32.

I'd be surprised if he finishes in the top half of the league from here on out. But I hope I'm wrong. Ricks best coaching days are behind him. The SEC is stacked.

Are you serious Clark? We are talking about basketball, not football or baseball.

You realize that a terrible A&M team, that we would have destroyed, that has a TERRIBLE coach, that finished the year getting blown out on its home floor in the second round of the NIT by Louisiana Tech, finished tied for 3rd in the SEC this year. Also the Big 12, as overrated as it might be, destroyed the SEC in the Big 12-SEC challenge again. The only SEC team to advance to the second round (not named Kentucky) was SEC #2 Arkansas who beat the might W-Sips of Wofford before easily being beat by North Carolina in the second round.

Hell TCU beat Ole Miss (who also tied for third in the SEC) at Ole Miss.

A down Rick Barnes should still kick butt in that conference at Tennessee.

Yeah Ellen, dead serious. 2014-15 season is soon to be in the books, old news. We're into a new season. New coaches. New recruits. New slate. I'm not Nostradamus but I think Rick is going to struggle to build and maintain in the league. Just my opinion. I hope I'm wrong.

Great new Trivial pursuit question: Who is the only coach that coached two top state universities having the same initials, and almost the same colors. Name the coach, the schools, and colors. Answer: Rick Barnes, University of Texas, University of Tennessee, orange and white.

Don't quibble too much about burnt orange vs orange. Even though burnt orange is truly so much more pleasant than that goofy orange-aid color the Vols have.

Glad to hear from some who still think our colors are burnt orange and white. I thought they had been changed to black - Texas Relays, basketball, softball. What will $tevie create for football?
