Kirk Bohls tweeted that McCombs is pushing for Johnson.... I think we can do better starting with Smart or Marshall.

We tried the whole washed up pro coach with Mackovic in football. I'll add that Johnson is no Larry Brown.

By the way, I am from San Antonio, am a Spurs fan and appreciate Avery as a great Spur, but we are trying to upgrade from Barnes. Picking up a washed up NBA coach is not the best call. Again, especially with people like Smart or Marshall out there.

I heard that on the radio this morning that the Horns should consider Avery Johnson. I don't see it.

And Red gave that advice for free? Thanks Red. We'll look into that.

I don't follow the NBA much and I know little about Avery as a "washed up coach". So I will defer to the judgment of Htown on this one and not Red that UT can and should do better.

Only if that means Avery brings his son from A&M and that top class his son has recruited to Aggie. Seeing this happen to aggie just might make it worthwhile.

Red will probably take it as a charitable contribution on his tax return.

Red is a man of means, he didn't get that way without taking care of business.;)

Honestly, I would rather just have Smart, Marshall or even Barnes recruit. Based on the current coach at A&M, I am not worried about what they get. If the players really are good, they'll go to waste there regardless.

aggy has the #3 recruiting class but Avery Jr. isn't even on the commit list of ranked recruits, at 5'9" :rolleyes1: . I think he got in because of his two high school teammates from Plano West....+ a donation from Avery Sr. for a pallet of Gatorade Mix.

Hiring Avery Johnson would bring five National Championships to UT.
