"Nothing is done yet," one source close to the situation told ESPN. Discussions have occurred in the past 24 hours -- and one source said Smart is trying to get a feel for Texas athletic director Steve Patterson". Smart is sizing up Patterson. Uh-oh.
BTW, Chip Brown reminds me of that character in A Bronx Tale who was the bad luck charm and the kiss of death when it came to bets. Finally, Sonny had to lock him in a small closet while the gambling was going on.
Per a poster somwhere out there on the World Wide Web: "After 27 years of the football team being coached by someone with a Mc Mac or Mack in their name Patterson decided to move to bald guys with one syllable last names."
Shaka's young. I like young. That's really the only prob I had with Charlie. I wanted a young football coach and I want a young, talented baseball coach as well. Enough of these old farts! They've had their day in the sun.
That reminds me of an uncle I had in Crockett who passed away about a year ago. He and some other guys would meet for breakfast somewhere in town every morning. They called it the ROMEO club. Retired Old Men Eating Out.
Old or young, black or white, tall or short, etc. all can win. Just give me the best guy. Let's look at who is the best winner and their resume, not irrelevant characteristics. DKR won his first national title at 39. Coach K at Duke is in the final four at 68 years old. Just give me the best guy. Smart very well may be the best guy, but it's not because of his age. It's because of his success as a coach.
If Chip Brown says it's Shaka Smart, I'll start composing my "Welcome to Texas" email to Marshal of Buzz. Has that guy gotten anything right other than saying he's a Texas fan?
Anyone that does as much damage as he does to our univeristy and athletic programs, tries to report details of sensitive deals early which has the potential to kill them, publishes rubbish and propaganda against UT, it's players and it's coaches as "insider info" all for profit is not a texas fan.
