per Texas Sports. She looked great in limited minutes verse UConn. I'm excited to see what a full off season training does for her. If my math is correct we will be over the 15 scholarship limit. I wonder if someone is transferring.

Has there been any confirmation that Brady will be back?

Yeah, numbers mean attrition of at least one current player to make room. We are all assuming Brady is returning for her 5th year based on not having participated in Senior night. If that's the case, I'd assume a player not getting much playing time will be transferring out. As the talent of incoming players/freshmen continues to increase, some of the upperclassmen (and the coaching staff) will have some tough decisions to make.

I don't think it would be Lilley, because she is a big cheerleader on the bench. She doesn't seem to mind the bench time, and is always the first up to high five the players on the court for timeouts. Unless she gets pushed out, different story. Diani is intriguing. Has anyone ever seen her smile? Of course, I'm just guessing and putting my thoughts out there.

No offense, but trading Sara for Nekia would be terrible.

Realistically, how much playing time is Hattis going to get on a very talented bb team next season? It tool a 50 point blowout to UCONN for her to get significant minutes in the lineup. Just saying.

Nekia is not going to track, she came her on a basketball ship and is a much better basketball player than a shot putter.

Haven't seen where Nekia is that much better at basketball than she is at track. Realistically, she does not have the time to devote to either sport fulltime. And, both do require a full time commitment to meet expectations.

Sara will fill a need for height in the post. She rebounds well and will continue to develop her post moves offensively with more time to spend on them. She has played BB for three months compared to the other players.

Like Coach Aston says, the numbers will work out. I really hate to see anyone that is here leave. But that is the most likely scenario.

No question, she's a better basketball player than track athlete. Also track scholarships are totally different than basketball. Most track athletes don't get full ride scholarships unless they are one of the best at that discipline in the counrty. So unless she comes from a wealthy family or gets on some sort of financial aid, I don't see her as a full time track athlete.

Nekia is one hell of a basketball player. She is going to make a great coach one day also.

Lots of opinions on this thread; nothing wrong with that.

I think this past season may have taught Coach Aston how injuries can totally alter the course of a season, and not having quality depth at every position can be detrimental. I had said for the last couple of seasons that we had not recruited the power forward position very well, and after Nneka Enempkali, there was no comparable PF behind her on the bench who was close to being as effective if Nneka wasn't on the court. Diani is undersized, a bit slow-footed, and starter her career at UT with an injury; perhaps that led to her lack of conditioning. Nekia Jones has the strength to play inside, but she gets called for a foul just for breathing. She could actually be our best spot-up shooter from beyond the arc; her shot looks effortless, and I would love for that to be her main role.

While Lilley may be a great teammate, I'm not sure you can have her on the roster for 4 years if her contribution on the court isn't progressing each season.

I think Sara has a lot of potential. If she can devote her practice time completely to basketball year round, she could be an asset to this team, especially this coming season where our PF depth is very young and inexperienced. Aborowa is not known for her offense yet, and based on what I saw yesterday, Jordan Hosey, while very athletic, is very slender (compared to the other McDonald's AAs on the court).

For all we know, the attrition could come from a completely unexpected player(s).

She is definitely a great bball player. It would help if she could play more minutes, but she continually pulled herself and coaches seeing she can't make it down the floor during mid play as she needed rest. It's hard for the team to get anything going in a rhythm if it changes every 2-4 minutes. Her body can't keep up with the solid running of this game. If she puts in extra time in the gym and meets with a nutritionist, she will have a better chance at helping the team next season. I'm not "knocking" her with these remarks, it's just fact. She has such a positive attitude and is a great cheer leader, but we need her on the floor.

I love Nekia Jones' game. The blunt truth, however, is that she needs to lose 50 pounds minimum. I don't think she can significantly improve her conditioning without losing significant weight.

I will be seriously unhappy if Nekia doesn't come back. She is perhaps the best passer on the team, has one of the highest, if not the highest, basketball IQ's of anyone, IMHO. I would like to see her come in more on the perimeter, yes, including running point, than going on the low block so much, though she can be darned effective there, too.

I don't know about playing Nekia at the point, but you do make a good point about her playing on the perimeter more. Last year when we played a&m in that tournament in the islands, we ran pick and pop with Nekia, Kelsey, and Gigi, we were very effective using it. But for whatever reason we stopped running pick and pop altogether after that a&m game. We need to start running more pick and pop again with Nekia and Kelsey.
