I just looked it up and the last time Texas scored 5 or more runs in a game was on March 24, in a 6-4 win over Texas State. So 14 games later they haven't scored more than 4 runs in a game.

They still have a couple of games against Texas State this season, so I guess they can do it again. If you can't get it done against this Kansas pitching staff, then it may have to wait till then.

I believe that Shaw could not successfully sac bunt twice that cost us two runs. They have to get him out of the lineup.

I don't know how Augie, or any of his coaches sleep at night.

Thanks, NB. Gonna be tough to write these up once the season is over and we're just playin' out the string so I just want to note that your work has been appreciated and as bad as your stories have been lately, I just can't put the book down...

On a related note, I really thought this was an automatic-2-Omaha Team this season. We escaped the Draft 2 years in a row and had Boswell back from his injury and Little Rocket available for 1 and the mound. This outcome has been so mystifying and the only thing I can fathom is Coach just got complacent and thought he was going to trot out any 9 of his 2-deep and slaughter folks with the new ball and his pitching and defense. Really sad outcome as I thought he had been reinvigorated by last year and we were quickly on the way to 2000 and a fun retirement year his last contract year.

    Dang.

This whole season has been a lesson in how baseball will screw with your mind. This team had everything going for it but finds ways to lose in the most infuriating ways. They will be lucky to finish over .500 and while Augie isnt going anywhere it is a sad reminder that with the exception of about a month and a half run last year his twilight years have been a long slow decline.
