My first thought when I saw this was "who? I do not remember Texas signing that guy." After beating us so many times and their current coach being an a**hat, I wish UCLA nothing but bad things such getting problem recruits like this.

He's a party boy. Always has been. Failed plenty of weed tests but none for PED's. We've had our fair share of dudes just like him.

He made the news last night...the cops said when he finally got out of the car he laid down on the pavement and was yelling "My life is over!!" UCLA is investigating and evaluating. Potential for Sam Houston State to pick up another cast off if UCLA cans him...

I'm guessing he wouldn't have passed the core values test.

Did you notice this from the article?

"The online records showed that Jamabo was charged with evading arrest with a vehicle. Earlier Sunday, those records had listed several other charges, including disregarding a stop sign, minor consumption of alcohol, minor in possession of alcohol, driving without possessing a driver's license and speeding, but those charges were no longer listed by the afternoon."

Wow! The kid sounds out of control. I wonder what UCLA does. This will interesting to follow. Soso is an incredibly talented young man with so much potential. What a shame. Maybe he needs the tough straight balanced hand of Coach Strong to help him get his mind right and walk the line. Oh well, that's not gonna happen. Now I know why he didn't come here. He was afraid of the values program and the discipline Coach Strong enforces.

I just can’t judge this stuff. When I was that age I did stupid things. Never got in trouble with the law but I was lucky more than a few times.

<insert old foggy voice> I guess I don't understand some of these kids and their mindset now-a-days <insert old foggy voice>.

So, you are an incredibly skilled HS athlete that just got recruited by a ton of colleges and you get a 4 year football scholarship to play football at a major D-1 program, potentially get a college degree and have the possibility to play professional football beyond that. You have a wonderful ticket but not a guarantee to a good life.

I have to assume some parents, adults, teachers, counselors, coaches, etc. around these kids have talked to them at some level about: taking stock in their situation, what a wonderful opportunity this is, about being careful not to do dumb stuff or take unnecessary or avoidable risks now or in the future that could harm you and your opportunity, etc., etc.

Maybe some kids get no advice or counseling like this?

Regardless I have to ask the question: Don't these kids think about exercising some discretion, not taking or minimizing unnecessary risks, using some good judgment, about avoiding temptations that come up, determining right and wrong, doing the right thing, etc. BEFORE they do them? I am not saying they shouldn't have fun or engage in some normal HS / college student behavior.

Or do some of them just think they are above it all? They are bullet proof, noting bad is going to happen to me, I can beat the rap - whatever it is.

Is that it or is it something else?

At least he had the slightest amount of sense and didn't run off after the vehicle chase.
