Alabama does not play Troy State every year. Texas does not need to play anm every again.

So you admit "Anytime, anyplace" was just posturing then?

Plus, we all know Aggies' schedules never get full, they just run out of weeks.

Texas doesn't benefit from getting back into the "rivalry" with aggy, let them rot in the middle of the SEC West.

UT and A&M should play every Thanksgiving or the Friday after T-Day.
Maybe with Dodds gone this can happen.

The Big 12 should add 2 more teams and play with 2 divisions like before. This would allow for 4 out of conference games.
We should play Arkansas every September and A&M every Thanksgiving. This would help bring the program back to the level we all expect.
Another strong non conference game against a big name opponent and then the 4th for an easy game would help make up for the weak Big 12 schedule.

Or teams can just do what texas did and schedule notre dame and cal meaning 11 of our 12 games will be against "power" teams. Meanwhile, even if Alabama makes the SEC title, it will have only played 10 power teams in 13 games. Who has the weaker schedule?

Same answer - why help aggy and the pig people? Texas would gain nothing form playing two lower level SEC West teams.

We gain nothing. We have nothing left to prove playing piggy or aggy. If we were going to play an out of conference team on TDay, let's play a Notre Dame not a SEC West cellar dweller.

Strong has been here one year. He's not a Texan. He should coach and keep his opinions to himself. And btw, he better improve on his coaching, hehe. To hell with aggy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If aggy ever gets good enough to make the playoffs they'll have a game with us. Outside of that....I have two answers one short and one long. The short answer is "no". the long answer is "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!"

Every year, we should schedule 3 OOC games, mostly against power teams. One should be a recent or perennial national power, one a solid team from the second tier, and one an also-ran. We should rotate through who we play so that there is always something new and exciting to look forward to.

There is no longer anything special about playing A&M, and they should be one of the teams we consider as a second-tier team to fill our schedule. I have no preference between A&M and, say, Purdue or Mississippi State. If we schedule a home-and-home with them once every few decades, fine. If we don't ever play them again, that's fine too.

My only strong feeling is that they aren't a rival any more, so they definitely should not be a regular presence on our schedule.

Hell no. I am really enjoying not having to travel to College Station, or pay attention to any of their exploits. They don't exist for me anymore. I've seen the crotch grabbing, I've seen the corps idiots chasing cheerleaders with drawn swords, I've seen the fistfights on Kyle Field, I've seen the vandalization of numerous statues, signs, our football field, etc., I've had rocks thrown at me after a baseball game for the sin of taking a picture of the UT winning score on the scoreboard...I could go on indefinitely, but you should get the idea. Why would anyone want to give those institutional morons the chance to stand on the same level as UT? We're on the top step now, let's stay there a few more decades.
The "rivalry" needs to cool down for a hundred years or so, although that may not be enough to enable the junior state school to our east to get over their inferiority complex built up over the previous hundred years.
