Did anyone see Daje after the scrimmage on Saturday? What in the hell was he doing and why? He started on one sideline, ball in hand, layed down and rolled across the field, slowly to the other sideline. Then he rolled back...moved up twenty yards and did it again......was it punishment for fumbling, was he stoned, almost everyone had left the stadium and he was just rolling across the field relatively slowly.......anyone......
George is correct. In the early years, DKR made players that fumbled in a game carry the football to class and everywhere else for a week after the game. He should have made Worster carry the football for a month after the 1971 Cotton Bowl. Maybe Daje will get the message - he had 2 fumbles.
That is the weirdest punishment that I ever heard, carrying a football to class has been done by coaches throughout the history of college football......I am not sure what that was....punishment........how hard is that.......the pit would be more appropriate or some bull in the ring, that will teach him to hold onto the ball or a workout with the Linebackers!!!
I was hoping that this wasn't Strong's punishment. I know that Leach still has a job and I guess that DJ doesn't have a famous dad. Still this was a rather public humiliation, as opposed to something done at practice.
Yeah, the roll had to be not only pretty humiliating but very grueling for Daje. There may be more to the story behind the scenes, but I too would have thought the coaches might handle this kind of punishment at practice. It may be have been done after the game to send a strong message to him and perhaps others.
Yeah, back many years ago I had a coach that if a RB fumbled, ALL of the RBs were punished by having to bear crawl 50 yards and push footballs with our noses, and did it until the coach said it was enough. Same thing for the Receivers if they dropped a pass when they were wide open. Then we carried the ball everywhere with us, and every person in school would try to knock it loose...if so and Coach found out...bear crawls again. It was a different time.
