I'm not worried about how we send out Augie, he's a grown man and made a lot of money here. Real fans will appreciate what he has done for us, and will be an eternal coaching legend here for it.

But the bottom line is he's paid well to produce. Yes we made a CWS run last year, but it's now looking like we'll miss the entire playoffs 2 of the last 3 years. You have to really suck to miss the whole postseason field in baseball. At 22-22, we do really suck. And with many of the same players from last year. Something is very wrong in that clubhouse and the players checked out long ago.

It shouldn't make a bit of difference if the year we let Augie go is not an ideal send out for him? That's not the concern of the UT baseball program and it's chances of success in 2016. Are we really willing to absorb another lackluster, disengaged season to be nice to Augie?

If we don't make a regional this year, it will be 3 out of 4 years not making one. In 2013, we finished last in the Big 12 conference, losing every series, we didn't make the Big 12 Tournament.

I guess making the Big 12 Tourney, is a form of post series play, a very minimal one. You have to finish last, to not make it. Missing a regional is really bad, certainly not expected, at a traditional baseball power, like Texas.

B12 Tournament? That is all is about all that is left to seriously help this team.

Pardon my sarcasm, but where did Augie eat tonight featured on LHN?

Augie did a lot for this team. He restored us to national respectability and should have won four titles here. But it's time for him to go. The team is going backward.

    It's time.

It was time for him a couple of years ago when he lost just about an entire team. Things started spinning when he got caught DWI. There are alumni/donors who don't like his um, off the field antics/relationships as well. The man has done an enormous amount of rebuilding and reputation restoration for the University of Texas. He did it the right way. He should always be revered with respect and I hope that is the case.

That said, it's time for new blood.

All those who say Augie should go are entitled to their opinions - even if they're wrong. Hitting needs to be addressed in the off season. Good hitting + a Skip Johnson pitching staff = a deep run in the CWS.

Texas has been in Omaha 8 out of the last 15 years. No other school can say that. When no other coach can do what you do - you're the best.

Show of hands. Who here thinks that Patterson would hire the right replacement anyway? Based on his track record, when Augie leaves, the new baseball coach will be Strike 3 (pun intended). Unfortunately that won't mean he's out.

Way to early to know for sure, but it looks like Strong and Smart were good hires.

The hitting has needed to be addressed, since 2011. Why hasn't it happened? As I have stated repeatedly and even produced the stats, last season's success was because of super human pitching in the post season.

Since a Regional was brought into the playoff system in 1975, Texas has never failed to reach one in 3 out of 4 years. That is a real possibility after this season.

Only one team since the formation of the Big 12, has gone an entire season, without winning at least one conference series. That was 2013 Texas.

If this season ends like it looks like it is going to, then a head or heads will roll most likely. Whether it's Nicholson or more, is yet to be determined and nobody on this board will make the decision.

So everybody's opinion is as good as anybody's else, but old stats don't show what is presently happening.

Like NB said, hitting has been a problem for years. If we don't get exceptional pitching, we can't win. We can't even get a sac fly or a grounder to the right side of the infield when we have a man on third and fewer than two out. Fundamentals, man. We ain't got 'em.
