    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

10 year anniversary of this epic game coming up in Sept.

Many of you were there and put up with untold hostility, classlessness and general jackassery. I wish I had been there to help push back in a very small way. This was a real nail biter to the end!

MORE HEROES THAN I CAN REMEMBER:

Vince, Sweed, Pittman, Aaron Harris, Roberson, Ramonce Taylor, Selvin Young, Jammal Charles.

I have told many of my Horn buddies that THIS victory over Ohio State was one of our biggest victories in the last 50 years.

The way and definition of that key OCC victory and what it lead to:

A great road trip, especially winning after the jort and jersey wearing slackjaws said we had no chance because of the night game in the "Shoe" and Ted Ginn, Jr. Morons.

That was the entire basis of much of their fan base saying we had "no chance". Not even reasonable football discussion. Literally no chance.

Singing "The Eyes" and "Texas Fight" in that northeast corner after the game was so glorious. Knowing the fate of so many innocent couches had been sealed was bittersweet. What did those poor couches do to deserve such fiery deaths?

I still remember a guy from work who was a Buckeye alum talking about how "Vince Young's not going to be able to compete against that defense." When we won, he said "yeah, but he hasn't ever been hit that hard before, we made him work"... and then by end of season was saying that the MNC game should be a rematch. "That's what people want to see, they want to see those two teams play again." Ummmmm.... no.

Well now you've heard one. And if you can avoid going to Columbus, I'm betting that's as high as it goes.

I still watch the replay of Sweed's catch and wonder how there wasn't more controversy over whether a "football move" occurred. That ball came out so quickly (obviously from the strip on the ground), but an official could have just as easily called it an incomplete pass and there wouldn't have been much evidence to overturn from full-speed replays.

Thank goodness it was called a TD with very little afterthought.

Huh? The TD was reviewed by the officials for a long time. But, here is the deal. After catching the ball and laying on his back on the ground, Sweed held the ball up to the official to show he had it (recall he juggled it initially). It was at that time the OSU defender knocked the ball out. Fortunately the ref was right there and saw what Sweed was doing. I think that is the reason why the ref called a TD without any hesitation.

I was more ticked that they didn't review the Hank Shelton fourth-down run. Who knows... his whole career trajectory could have changed with that one touchdown. He could be an out-of-work overweight running back instead of a pro bowl caliber defensive lineman... ok maybe it's just as well.

I thought it was "Henry Shelton" that carried on that play?

Regardless, I too thought that play should have been reviewed. The nose of the ball may have just snuck over the goal line before going out. It would have given the Horns more breathing room and rubbed the sting of the loss in a little more AND your right, a TD may have changed Melton's football career path....

Too bad he was a train wreck off the field, could have used in 2006. Great talent.

The last drive of the 1st half, JC had 2 huge plays to get us in FG range.

Ced Griffin's play in the end zone.

Kelson's strip. Bucks had all day to get in FG range and dwindle the clock when the drive started.

Limas' TD catch happened right in front of us. The osu fans around us had been hassling us the whole game; they were quiet for the rest of the game.

We stayed in the stadium for maybe 45 minutes after the game ended, celebrating with the team and other UT fans. Prior to the game, there were some crude remarks about from some ******* osu twenty-something about Sally Brown. When we protested that those were way over the top, we got a simple "Be glad you're not Michigan." back.

We missed most of the post-game idiocy partially because of the time we spent in the stadium post-game, and partially because afterwards, we went to the ESPN stage and listened to them do their post-game show for maybe another 30 minutes.

By the time we walked to our car in a parking lot about 1/2 mile away, there weren't many of those piss-ant osu fans left. Other than Arkansas in Fayetteville, I've never seen anything worse than them at a college football venue. Somebody ought to give Putin the coordinates of that "university" and tell him to launch immediately. Pathetic fans, pathetic university, pathetic state.

Worst fans I ever saw. They were just awful. However, the workers in the stadium were pretty awesome. It's like they knew they had to make up for the rudeness of the OSU fans.

Did you response with "Right now we're just glad to not be Ohio State"?

It definitely did. That play was a touchdown and they blew the call. Thankfully it didn't end up mattering.

So, many memories from this trip.
    1) My brother calling me Thursday before game to tell me he had a colleague from tOSU that had an extra ticket. At that point, I didn't even know if I could still get there. Ended up using AA mile to Pittsburgh, rented a car, and drove to Columbus.
    2) Spending the day at HineyGate (their version of 6th St). I know many UT folks had a bad experience, but we had a great day talking to Buckeye fans. Michigan lost that day, so they were in a good mood. Didn't TCU beat OU in Norman, too?
    3) Getting to the stadium and realizing that my single ticket was smack-dab in the middle of the tOSU student section. You should have seen their faces and heard their obscenities (directed at our team, more than me).
    4) Vince ripping their defense apart on the first drive. After that, their defense adjusted and made life difficult for Vince. There LBs were the only folks I ever saw keep Vince in check. Remember his longhorn emblem getting reshaped?
    5) When their kicker finally missed a FG in the 4th quarter, turning to the guy next to me and saying, 'Well, you just gave Vince a chance. If he is a real Heisman, he'll make you pay.' Knowing that he would.
    6) Asking the same guy (who was about the same age as me), if I could walk out with him ... not being sure of what the students would do. Then, changing my mind when they began vacating the stands near the end of the game, realizing it would be better to stay put.
    7) I've heard bad stories about how UT fans were treated after the game, but for what is worth, we had no problems. May have to do with which direction we exited.
    8) We went back to Hineygate ... I'll never forget walking on a street so covered with crushed cans that you couldn't see the pavement.
    9) Actually talked to tOSU fans about how great the game was and conjectured that we might meet again in the NC.
    10) Knowing at that point that Vince was destined to lead us to the NC.
