This will be a work in progress, as the week goes along. First a story that contains some aspects that have been discussed, one I was going to mention, and some more Aggy statements, that are as usual, funny and a bit delusional. The aspect that I was going to talk about was DBU, despite being the host, has a lot to prove still and could play with a big chip on their shoulder. It could also put a lot of pressure on them. It seems that Aggy, has now assumed that role, poor things, everybody and everything is always against them.

Oregon State is a really good team, that could have easily hosted a regional. They have two top line starting pitchers, the ace of the staff, who we will most likely see on Friday, has some eye popping stats. Here is a recent story on him.

    ViewArticle.dbml

Moore's full line for the season is 114 and 1/3 innings, an era of 1.73, 77 hits, 22 earned runs, 103 K's and only 12 walks.

The #2 starter has very good numbers too and has thrown 101 and 2/3 inning and the third starter has thrown 88 and 1/3 innings, with not nearly as good stats.

Compare this to Parker French, who will we consider a workhorse, for Texas. He has only thrown 85 innings this season. He has good numbers also with an era of 2.33, 86 hits, 22 earned runs 54 K's, with 20 walks.

The next most used pitcher for Texas is freshman Connor Mayes, with 63 innings pitched. He has only started 4 games, compared to 14 starts, for French.

This shows you what injuries have done, to this pitching staff and what Mayes has done, to keep it afloat

So Oregon State has three pitchers, that usually go deep in games. Moore has been lights out all year and you wouldn't expect a bad performance, from him or French in the opening game. They also field well at a .977 clip, with Texas at .976, so a wash in that phase of the game.

It means that this game should be no different, than what we see, on a regular basis, a low scoring game. Texas will have to eke out runs, by any means possible to win, most likely. If you can get into the OSU bullpen, it would help, they seem to fall off some there, but it's getting there soon enough, that's the problem.

Here are some stats for both teams to chew on and hopefully digest well, after a thorough chewing.

    OSU stats:

    Texas stats:

I will just keep adding on any more things about the game and other news about the regional, feel free to contribute.

The morning paper says French unlikely to start the first game, due to number of pitches in the conference tournament.

That's not good, sounds like a sore arm, or maybe worse. I know he desperately wanted to pitch, in the championship game of the Tournament, but he shouldn't have.

It was probably sore or tight in that appearance and he wasn't effective. Only pitcher I remember doing that on a regular basis was Swindell. He never had any or very little arm problems, then went on to a long pro career, talk about a rubber arm.

Yeah, French's throws didn't have much movement on Sunday when he came in. Almost cost us the game. Save him for Saturday, or even Sunday if we keep winning.

Seems like an awfully early announcement on French, with the game on Friday. I can't find a story on it yet, anywhere.

    NB,

You are simply amazing for your continued role on this forum. Your persistence and toil are laudatory.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate the incredible work you do.

Speaking of aggy, I like to drop by texags this time of year, as they have a lot of college baseball fans there. They are apoplectic that the winner of a “weak” conference (TCU) would receive a national seed instead of them. They apparently don’t remember that the Big 12 sent three of its nine teams to Omaha just last year. aggy is collectively as dumb as they've ever been, which I somehow find reassuring.

Was last year's B12 performance even mentioned? On the other hand, they deserve a break since they haven't been to the playoffs in years. What do they know?

Do you guys realize that TCU in baseball and football has been an upgrade over Aggie? Point that out and you get excuses like the B12 is so bad.

Aggie logic...TCU is good because B12 is bad. But didn't TCU kill an SEC team in their bowl game, and didn't TCU beat other teams to get to the CWS?

A&M's beef should be with Vanderbilt, not TCU. The SEC got 2 of the 8 national seeds, and Vandy got one of them with 18 losses. I actually looked a little closer at A&M's record since I was discussing the bracket with one of my husband's Aggie friends, and I noticed that A&M only had 14 road games. They had 36 games at home and 5 at neutral sites. TCU had 22 road games, 29 home games, and 3 neutrals (RPI rankings 5/23/15). I don't know if that was something the committee considered, but I thought it interesting. The Aggies can refuse to acknowledge it if they want, but the Big 12 is still a major baseball conference and their regular-season champion is going to get a top 8 national seed with a 43-11 record. To think otherwise is just silly.

(Correction: Florida got the other SEC seed, not Vandy--see NBHorn7 correction below)

The SEC did get two national seeds, but they are LSU and Florida. Vanderbilt may have knocked Aggy out of a top eight seed, by beating them in the SEC Tournament.

    Here's a story on it.

Not only are the Texas games, for the DBU Regional on LHN, the broadcasters for the Regional, are Kevin Dunn and Keith Moreland.

Here is a listing of all the Regionals, where they will be carried and the announcers. I know it does't list LHN, as carrying the DBU Regional, but it's already on the LHN schedule listings now. They are even having a pregame "Texas Gameday," broadcast at 1 pm, shown in the bottom link.

For those of us that will only be able to listen on the radio due to work, hopefully, that means several replays we will be able to catch later.

If you can't access LHN, for the game tomorrow, it's still on ESPN 3, if you can access that.

How does the DBU field stand up prevailing wind orientation-wise and outfield fence distances? Maybe the guys can get some of those would be deep fly outs at DFF to go out at DBU field? Just win baby. Find a way against the guy who doesn't give up anything for da beavers.
