more heavy rain in Dallas right now has postponed the 11 am start. Hope they don't have to bring out the helicopters again.

    Hi Elgin,

Where did you see/hear that? And did they say when the game was likely to start?

I'm trying to determine when to leave for the game.

texassports.com had the delay announcement but they have not set a target time. I guess they need to see if that creek floods the outfield again.

here's the phone number listed for the ball yard, maybe they can give you a quicker progress report

Start time for Baseball vs. Dallas Baptist delayed
Heavy rain falling in Dallas area

Inclement weather in Dallas on Saturday has forced the start time for game three of the Dallas Regional between Texas and Dallas Baptist to be delayed. Game time for first pitch of game three is to be determined and will be posted on TexasSports.com and @Texas_Baseball when official word comes from the NCAA.

Yeah, I called that number just now and they just said to follow them on their website and on Twitter. Nothing has been posted yet about a revised start time in either location.

Guess I'll just head for the ballpark and watch the helicopter! :yippee:

espn2 showing the field in horrible shape. They are saying it's more water than yesterday, and there is a meeting scheduled for noon central to decide what to do.

Twitter has started not letting all posts be transferred, on social media, @Texas_Baseball is a good source.

They built a nice Ballpark at DBU, but it's obvious they had to cut some corners, due to most likely, lack of funds. Having natural grass, in the outfield, is really hurting in attempt to dry the field and having the field in game shape. Someone could get hurt out there, it's all uneven now, with many soft spots.

I have no idea what that means. I will go to my grave having never tweeted. I refuse. :smokin:

You don't have to be a tweeter, but can still be the tweetee, Andy, to get the desired information. If you know what I mean, and I know you do. :smile1:

As in they are allowing this tweet to be transferred, because they want it seen.

ESPNU has their "Bases Loaded" coverage of the different regionals going now, should be a way to watch baseball and keep apprised of the DBU game.

I know, I was two people down, in that line, from you. Quite a lineup it was, the female UT cop, was fortunately, amused.

The ticker on ESPNU says the game will start, at 3 pm, haven't seen that anywhere else.

We could start earning the right to host a regional again, that solves the problem.

@DBU _ Baseball, 20 minutes ago, says they are still working on the field and waiting for a start time. There's no way that ESPNU ticker alert is accurate.

What does DBU know, they're only hosting it. ESPN is "The Worldwide Leader in Sports". :smile1:

Yeah, and their Twitter also says that when a game time HAS been established, they will allow fans plenty of time to get to the ballpark. I assume that means at least an hour. So I'm just cooling my heels until they tweet that kickoff time . . . .

However, if the reliability of DBU's info about the post time is as good as the rest of their info has been about this regional, they'll probably play the game without ever notifying anybody . . . .

A buddy called just now and said he now hears tip-off won't be until 7:00 p.m. So who knows when it will be. If it's true that the DBU folks were actually digging trenches in the outfield to drain it, how will they patch those areas so some outfielder doesn't step in a foot-deep mud hole and twist an ankle or break a leg?

Who's bright idea was it to grant DBU a hosting site anyway? It's a nice stadium for the regular season with their level of draw. But not suited for the post-season stage when bringing in much bigger schools. 2,000 seat capacity, less than high quality, weather resistant field, etc.

Oregon State is a powerhouse baseball program with a solid fanbase. Texas is same and travels even larger. Yet they send them both to 2,000 seat Dallas Baptist? Come on. Every other site has played their scheduled games. I understand rain/lightning delays anywhere, but unplayable field in the playoffs when others available are equipped to withstand...lame.

It's great that DBU had a nice year and all, but the team and their facilities (in regards to playoff hosting) are different things completely. They shouldn't be lumped together when judging the suitability of each. Sites should be bigger and more weather resistant...especially in Texas. Even UH has 1,500 more seating capacity, and that's the second smallest host this year in Texas.
