How far have we fallen. It seems we can not get any of our "targets" from the state of Texas. We are THE University of Texas with a rich history in college football. Not only are we losing every battle with the mighty SEC, but now we are losing head to head with TCU, Baylor and U of H.

    What is going on?

    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

It is still early brother horn. Have faith and give it time. Some of these early commits could change before Feb. 2016. Remember how flakey some of the kids were last go-round?

    In Charlie we trust.

Recruiting so far so good. Have six commits all at positions of need. Chances are good on a couple of OL and one TE. Get a couple or three DBS and three more LBS and all will be well.

Looking at Texas's record and inept offense last year no wonder Baylor and TCU are getting top prospects in Texas.

That raises an interesting question. If at some point there is an early signing day, how will that affect Strong's slower recruiting style? Will that automatically put UT at a disadvantage? The more impulsive kids or kids who have a genuine long-time desire to go to a certain school will quickly be off the board and the kids who are still on the board will get the brunt of attention during the last few months. It will be interesting to watch.

That's a good question. ESD may see more kids that get an offer sign up so they don't run the risk of loosing their spot to another recruit. The highly recruited kids might still wait until later. Hard to say. CS will have to change his strategy and encourage kid to commit earlier to run the risk that another body may jump ahead of them and sign. If a class can fill up by ESD, some programs may be filled up and closed to further signings. This could play out in a number of ways.

BevoJoe: And how will that affect the kids who commit to a less desirable school as a "reservation" hoping for their "dream school" to come through later on? Will their hand be forced? How will schools play those kids and how will the kids play the schools. Will the ESD be seen as a "reset" point? Probably not. But everybody will see certain positions filling up at certain schools. Will it affect schools that "over-offer" and schools that "slow-play"? It will be heaven for the bloggy-boys and talking heads.

I am moving a post from another thread here because it applies here as well.

I believe that a coach would have to recruit to get the guys that are high priorities early and get them signed. The kids that sign early can focus on their grade and football. That would leave the rest to play lights out their senior HS season to get an offer for the NSD in Feb. That of course is pure speculation, so it will be interesting to see what happens. I think a bunch of the 5 stars that have early offers commit to reserve a place, and flip sometime before the NSD, while others like to hint around where they will commit and don't do so until the last week. Some of the recruits seem to enjoy that game and the travel and attention they get while milking the system for all it's worth. Some hold out for the big press conference and announcement just before signing day. This might make them think before going on a lot of visits especially if coaches let them know that on ESD if their positions fill up, there may be no slot for uncommitted players. So, we'll see what happens if it actually comes to fruition.
