I am moving to Austin and wondering if they still have a Longhorn Club where the coaches came to lunch or breakfast during football season and spoke.
No. Patterson cancelled all the Longhorn Clubs around the entire State of Texas. And he cancelled inviting core UT fans to the annual football banquet as well. ******** *******. The reason that I heard from a Longhorn Foundation drone was that Patterson said that those clubs were losing money, but it clearly had to do with the fact that Strong is afraid of his shadow in front of groups, is a horrible public speaker, and just didn't want to be bother with 500 core fans in the Erwin Center. If those clubs were really losing money, all StevieP had to do was to raise the price of each meeting, and thousands of loyal UT fans around the state would have been willing to ante up the needed proceeds. But Patterson LIED, like he has done around so many issues, and just cancelled the clubs all around the state. Charlie doesn't think enough of you or me to show up twice a year at the Austin Longhorn Club. Just one more reason why Bill Powers' legacy-building hiring decision was an absolutely horrible one. Powers could have had any number of highly experienced head coaches (20+ years), but instead he chose (totally for legacy reasons) this untested rookie of a head coach (only 4 years of head coaching experience) who is afraid of his shadow when it comes to speaking in front of groups of people, and who knows only 1/3 of the game (hey, offense and special teams are important too). Red McCombs, who didn't get to be a billionaire because he couldn't evaluate talent, was absolutely right: Charlie should have been hired as our defensive coordinator. And whoever would have been the head coach would have had the balls to continue the Longhorn Clubs around the state. Charlie doesn't.
Marley, Sorry, I can't resist: don't mince words, tell us what you really think! Yeah, the evidence of arrogance, poor judgment, bad decisions, fans & administration alienation by Patterson is mounting.
Meanwhile, the 2nd annual Foundation get together with Coach Strong and the team has been set for August 20. Get your $45 ready Marley.
I need some help. I want to go to the West Virginia game in Morgantown. How can I purchase tickets thru the university to set with other Longhorn fans?
July 10 was the deadline for season ticket holders to request tickets for the away games. If you are not a season ticket holder, I would go ahead and contact the ticket office to see if West Virginia tickets are available now to the general public. Try 512-232-4422.
