    That is disgusting.
yes she showed him her fist and yes she might have tried to hit him
but come on that is insane.
I am guessing that big brave azzhole ran out of the bar after he hit the blonde.
    ..
I hope he is found guilty and gets sent to prison where he will find out what happens to big brave women beaters.

    6721,

The university suspended him after the police made the video available to them. It was the FSU administration that told Fisher "do it or leave". I hold Jimbo Fisher in very low esteem, and seriously doubt that he would have dismissed the kid for simple subhuman behavior, and certainly not for overwhelming stupidity.

That was unacceptable. However, the girl never hit the floor and took the punch a lot better than some guys I have seen punched.
What a little weasel, hits a girl and then runs away.

The video I saw on he news looked like she did fall.

I have posted on multiple occasions that it is well known that there are major cultural differences in Florida recruits and those from Texas and Cali-phoney-ya. You can point back to Howard "I don't care how good he is, if they don't have scotch in the house, I ain't offering him" Schnellenberger, then continued and worsened by Erickson. Name another school that:

    1) Allowed subhuman drug dealers, felons, wannabe musicians, and thugs on their sideline passing out cash for cheap shots, seriously injuring opposing players, taking opposing players out with cheap shots and illegal hits

    2) Had the president of the school intervene to offer a scholarship to a football player who had just had his commitment resended by a competitor because of physical assault (much worse than this one) during his official visit. Then reaffirm that offer after his third offense for drugs.

    3) Had the city festival organizer hire the football players to provide security at the festival in Convict Gables, only to have he players assault, rob, and steal from the attendees, as well as the exhibitors.

That's just for starters. Far too many of this generation of Florida athletes have come to believe that is acceptable behavior and expect it to "be taken care of".

We have some Florida guys in the house now. But with CS running the show, I don't worry about them getting into this type of trouble. However, if they make the choice to be unsavory in their behavior, I'm confident that a dismissal will come in short order from CS.

I agree with you. I didn't know much about Jimbo but the way he handled this situation reveals what kind of coach / character he is.

On a side note Was this freshman QB legal to drink?

    Couple of points here:

    1. The woman does crowd out the QB from the bar, why I don't know. It's only cheap, watered down booze or nasty beer you're trying to throw your money away for. She moves her body to keep him from going to her side.
    2. She then raises her fist at him, which he grabs to keep from being hit, then she punches him with her other hand.
    3. It's a weak punch, which doesn't do a lot of harm, but no one likes to get hit in the face.
    4. At this point, the QB has been assaulted (raised fist against him as a threat) and battered (punched in the face).
    5. He then punches back, hitting her in the face, and leaves the scene.
    6. Legally, it's hard to find fault with the QB. The woman instigated the argument by preventing his movement. She then assaults and batters him. He responds with force, and withdraws from the location.
    7. If this same event was between two men, no one would care. Since it's a college age woman, and we're in the age of shriking violets on campus who'll faint or get the vapors at the drop of a hat, the QB must be punished.

Most disturbingly, FSU's incoming QB thows a punch at an overweight woman, with his (most likely) throwing hand, connects, and fails utterly to cause any great damage. Doesn't say much about his arm strengh if a punch to the head just causes a nose bleed.

Since UT has 2 former football players currently awaiting trial for the rape of a student, I'd climb off the high horse about Texas players compared to Florida ones.

    Golden Steer,

Nice post. You really believe that it is ok for a male to knock the crap out of a woman if she threatens him or even hits him?

As a member of The Florida Foundation for over 30 years, someone with a considerable number of friends who are both Gators and Noles, and someone who considers Bobby Bowden a friend, I can truly say that you are the classic example of what I am talking about. It is NEVER "ok" for a man to hit a woman, nor is there any excuse acceptable for that behavior. He is a classless piece of **** just like his coach, an opinion not confined to my den, my neighborhood, my city, or my state.

Although Virginia Tech stills holds the record for most players out on bond traveling to a bowl game, NO TEAM has ever approached the level of subhuman behavior of the trash in Convict Gables.

Coach Bowden would NEVER have tolerated this behavior. Make damn sure you know that little Jimmy Fisher didn't hand down the punishment; it came from the administration after Tallahassee PD provided them access to the tape.

As for the two in Austin, I can neither condemn nor condone their activity, since I (unlike your apparent omnipotent wisdom) do not have the facts. I was around for the Tony Edwards fiasco where he was convicted by our alums and the media destroying our team and his career, when indeed it was a midget Mexican cop later fired for admitting he hated black football players, so he cuffed and beat the **** out of Edwards.

Yawn. You fail to refute any of the points I made above, and just flap you gums about how the QB is a meanie.

The law makes no distinctions between what is allowed by women and what is allowed by men. You are not legally allowed to raise you fists at people and punch them because you sit down when you urinate. And yes, you are allowed to defend yourself against battery from a woman the same way you can with a man.

I make no claims about the guilt or innocence of the UT football players awaiting trail for the alleged rape of a student in her dorm room. But to someone say there is some cultural difference between Texas football players and those from other states is foolish homerism.

As for Bowden, oh please. Bobby B had a long history of playing players who'd been arrested - school policy just kept those who'd been charged with felonies from playing, hence the phrase Bowden's PFM - Praying for Misdemeanor. Along with Free Shoe U, and the old joke in Tallahassee about someone calling in to report a burglary, the 911 operator says all units are tied up so just write down the number on their jersey and the cops will handle it later.

Was FSU as bad as Miami? No one every has been, or hopefully will. But FSU has a long history of criminal actions by players, as most schools do.

Interestingly, even some of the worst schools have arrest rates for their players that are below the rate of the general student body, you just hear of an arrest if it's a football player compared to a history major.

Golden Steer: I have heard no one on this board attempt to excuse or justify the behavior of the two former UT players currently on trial for rape in the way that you are trying to excuse or justify the behavior of this FSU football player.

And for full disclosure of positions in this discussion, what university's football team do you generally support? Since you are often here pointing out the academic cheating by UNC, I have assumed it was FSU. It's just to understand what dogs you have in this fight, you understand. I'm a UT fan. See how easy that is?
