Per 247 Sports: Texas put a scholarship on the table for 2017 Austin Westlake quarterback Sam Ehlinger on Sunday afternoon. Ehlinger camped with Texas at Saturday’s Under The Lights event and returned to campus on Sunday to meet with the staff. At 6-foot-1, 207 pounds, Ehlinger is ranked as the No. 10 dual-threat quarterback in the country and No. 48 overall prospect in the state, according to 247Sports Composite. He also holds offers from Houston and SMU. Ehlinger passed for 2,300 yards, rushed for 722 yards and scored 33 total touchdowns as a sophomore.
This young man has committed in honor of his father, a most devoted UT Longhorn. His dad put him in UT clothes as a baby--gave him that good Burnt Orange blood. Tragically his dad died of a heart attack while competing in the "Escape From Alcatraz" Triathlon 2 years ago. Sam said that when his father passed, he had to "man up" for his family. I think we are getting much more than a great QB.
Nice game for Sam. http://www.mystatesman.com/news/spo...hes-for-255-yards-five-tds-as-westlake/nnjNT/
The recruits saw a great offensive game plan from Texas and the need for DL right away. I feel better about recruiting.
Ehlinger named AP Texas high school player of the year. http://texas.247sports.com/Bolt/Tex...er-named-Texas-AP-Player-of-the-Year-42128611
