Since he signed with Texas in February, Ronnie "Buck" Major has spoken with Texas offensive line coach Joe Wickline at least two or three times a week. These chats range from get-to-know-you conversations to shop talk, which is where Major hopes to make the biggest strides.
Major said he already has a very good idea of what plays the Longhorns run and what’s required of linemen thanks to the time he’s spent looking at the playbook over the recent months.
Wickline also gave Major a target weight of 315 for his arrival at Texas, and the 6-foot-6 tackle is maintaining his weight around 317. Major, already a massive prospect, only expects to improve once he enters the Longhorns’ weight program.
During the spring Major has worked with former Texas offensive lineman Thomas Ashcraft, who has become Major’s mentor. It’s a relationship that’s really benefited Major in his development.
“He’s just been teaching me to move my feet, get in a better stance,” Major said. “He’s just been helping me and working out with me to get ready for UT.”
With the help of Wickline and Ashcraft, Major is about as prepared as he could possibly be to enter Texas.

At 6-6/290, Ronnie Major is a prospect who has the frame and length that is highly desirable. He looks thin and has a verified weight right at 290 pounds in the winter of 2014. He has long arms and the look of a college offensive tackle. he has good flexibility and quick feet. He is a bit raw from a technique standpoint in pass protection and at times struggles with blocks on quicker players and will certainly benefit from some good years in a strength program.
