Away game ticket allotment for band /fans

I've seen a lot of venting on this site about admin decision to reduce the ticket allotment for LHB to Notre Dame. It disappoints me, but I can see how someone could make that call.
Big 12 allots something like 4000 seats to visitors. I see where big 10 allots 3000. Not sure what ND allocates.
I would prefer to see the full LHB representing at away games, but understand that it is an expense (lost revenue to athletic department) as well as a ticket a Hornfan cannot buy.
If the band requires 400 tickets (10% of the assumed visitors allotment), should the band or the Hornfans be the priority?
I would rather see the full band allocated before athletic department travel party and before students and before other ticket purchasers. I enjoyed road trip experience as a student. But now prefer better seats for myself than those allotted to visitors and rarely buy my away game tickets from UT ticket office, even when my donation level would get me tickets at face value.
    What is your position?

There is no position to have. Every visiting band stands in the endzone. It's always been this way in South Bend, thus no seats taken up, probably just a sideline pass.

Look at this video of the "Bush Push" game with USC. At the 1:13 point of the video and beyond see the USC Band standing in the endzone and to the ten yard line.

    NB7,
You say that with such certainty, but we are both just supposing and applying our own sense of logic. I certainly haven't had the opportunity to review the game contract. If I was host school (nd), I wouldn't give away spots which will certainly be occupied by supporters of my opponent.
I see the band's in the Cotton Bowl in the end zone as well, but I expect even those locations 'count' against each school's 'ticket allotment.'
We'll just have to agree to disagree on whether in fact band 'seats' count against ticket allotment.
I'm simply presenting that scenario and asking if you would take seats from fans increase expenses (reduce revenue) to assure full LHB representation.

This has gone on for years and years. I have been to the OU game and the Cotton Bowl game many times. The band sits in the stands at those games. They only come down to the endzone prior to half time

Bands do not at South Bend. They stand in the endzone the entire game. How could this count against ticket allotment? They never sit in the stands. I know other people know this besides me.

Only football game I ever saw at South Bend was 1971 ND - Navy game. The bands as I recall were in the EZs and not in the stands, but I wasn't paying much attention to the bands.

Yes, in the 'good old days' the LHB and ou band sat in the stands. At least after the Cotton Bowl remodel with upper deck expansion, both bands now sit in the end zone at turf level. That doesn't mean those seats aren't part of each school's allotment. I accept that that game is not a good example, because it is a neutral site game.
I still contend that visiting schools distribute a certain number of tickets to the visiting school and that allotment includes band, students, fans and athletic department support staff. Any of those seats not actually sold become an expense to the athletic department.

The school gets an allotment of actual spectator seats in the stadium. Endzone turf chairs or any makeshift setup beyond the allotted section won't subtract from that number. If your band is not designated to those seats, they don't count against the allotment.

It used to be at least in the mid 1990's ND had bleacher seats up against the wall. These seats were sold like every other seat and or allocated to the visiting teams band and their band. Not sure if band members have actual tickets as their sections are usually roped off in any stadium. At least 5 years ago, band tickets were taken out of the visitors allotment. Texas used to bring the Pep Band to almost all games where they had to fly. Recalling specifically Colorado and Missouri in the late 1990's early 2000's.

I was actually in LHB when we played in South Bend in 1995. I remember being on the sideline near the endzone in folding chairs.

I found a couple of references online stating ND gives the visiting team 5,000 tickets (not 4,000). Bands, families and staff should get first allocation of tickets. However, the remainder of the tickets should be available to Foundation members. Somehow, with more tickets than are frquently given UT as the visiting team, the athletic department managed to mangle this allocation and anger every single Foundation member I know who ordered tickets - even if they eventually got some.
