#TrumpBible re-imagines the Bible according to Trump

This stupidity is literally the top story on CNN website (as in the Headline story) this Sunday morning. Is this really news? I get news today is about ratings and site hits, but seriously?

My colleague at work keeps saying Trump is popular because the other GOP candidates aren't saying anything and don't have the balls to lay out their positions. He has no idea what the others stand for. :brickwall:

I said really? I don't like the guy, but you don't know what Ted Cruz stands for? Which btw the only news about him recently was because Ellen Page in disguise decided to have a guerrilla attack debate on religious freedom with him at the Iowa State Fair for her documentary (how do you think that went for her)? http://www.politico.com/story/2015/...s-ted-cruz-iowa-state-fair-lgbt-issues-121615

Again the media will only report something if some Hollywood starlet makes it reality television.

And Marc Rubio? Scott Walker? Rand Paul? These candidates aren't sitting at home twiddling their thumbs all day watching Celebrity Apprentice reruns.

I then told him that contrary to what he believed to be his erudite perspective on the GOP nomination and Trump, that he was, in fact, falling victim to the media echo chamber.

It is stupid. However, I think the Trump/media obsession is feeding on itself. The media covers him because people are supporting him enthusiastically. However, I think may are supporting him because of the media attention he's getting. Either way, serious candidates are getting fleeced.

The media also covers him because if he gets the nomination he's likely to cost himself the election at a crucial time.

I've thought from day one that Trump was fools gold. At the time he started to ramp my first thought was some quid pro quo promised from Hillary/Bill promised from one of their parties over the past few years. It made perverse sense to me because of the NY ties from both and how a variance here and there in NY might lead to 100's of millions for the Trumpster.

Now that his numbers are pretty legit it looks like he might win the R nomination. WTF? It is still quite early though. I grow to hate politics more and more every year but can't let it go.

Just you wait Henry Higgins. Just you wait.

Kanye West announced his bid for the Presidency in 2020 on the MTV awards last night! How about Kim K as the first "Lady" (she ain't no lady). Like Trump, he might have enough personal fortune to self-fund it too.

Another theory about the roots of Trump's appeal. I don't think she's entirely correct, but I think there's some truth to her theory.

By the way, S.E. Cupp is smokin' hot and probably the sexiest political commentator out there. It's the long brown hair, the glasses, the rack, etc. If you don't think she's hot, you may as well burn your straight guy card now and join a Cher fan club.

CNN is chasing ratings like they've always done in the past 10 years, no different than FoxNews. 26 Million viewers tuned into the first debate just to watch Trump. He clearly draws ratings. Unfortunately for the Republicans, he's sucking up all the available airtime from the media while they wait for the inevitable implosion moment. The Republican Party establishment knows this but is helpless to stop it for fear of pissing off the base, the very people that hate the "establishment".

Look at the latest Iowa Caucus poll that shows Ben Carson making a hard charge. He may be the alternative for the "no politicians allowed" voter as they recognize Trump's simply a vapid blowhard without any real ideas or government leadership skills. I'm curious how Ben Carson starts to handle the main stage. He's been flying under the radar but has some very outlandish statements in his stump speech. Of course, the more incendiary or outlandish the better with this years Republican primary voter.

If CNN leaves Fiorina out of the debate, it will be a sad example of how the media is playing too much of a role in elections. The Trump coverage is absurdly unfair..

Not really. The rules were set in May. Even the RNC says that to change the rules now would be a violation of election rules. They'd be playing favorites to let her in. With that said, she deserves to be on the stage. She'll have more current support than a few in the bottom half of the top 10.

If anything, this is a scheduling problem. The cycle of the polling doesn't matchup to the debate schedule thus many of the polls that are being used in the average haven't been updated since the last debate when Fiorina supposedly crushed the happy hour debate.

Fox changed their rules, CNN could too. The RNC does not want another outsider in the discussion.

Really? I'm not aware of that but have read that changing them after they are set and communicated is an FEC rules violation. Why would the RNC be against Fiorina? Sure, they want to align behind Jeb but as "outsiders" go they Fiorina should be preferable to Trump and Carson. Besides, Fiorina's participation wouldn't come at the expense of "establishment" candidates. The fact that Fiorina's camp is complaining isn't a conspiracy but rather the rules that have been in place for 4 months are simply working against them so they want them changed.

Fiorina is eminently more qualified than Trump and Carson. She's at least talking about real issues in detail rather than platitudes.

I am no expert with regards to the law around changing the rules, but I do know Fox made changes to the debate. I also heard it from a person I trust on my local radio.

I like Carson, but being a great neurosurgeon does not mean you can be a great President. As for Trump, I am now actually considering him only because he might be what our government needs - complete and utter dismantling. The current two party system is failing everyone.

As for Fiorina, I think she is a more appealing candidate right now, but it would be nice to see her against the legitimate candidates. She does seem to take a more presidential approach and legitimately talks about real issues. I do think the RNC is afraid of all of the outsider candidates. They need someone that keeps their money and power flowing in rather than someone who changes the system.

    Mr. Deez speaks the truth!

Fiorina is at the top of my list right now, I just think the media is downplaying her to indirectly (or directly) help HRC.

I'm skeptical that Trump will do anything he says. What dismantling has he proposed? I think he is giving the current establishment the finger because it's what's helping him win for the moment. He readily admits that he WAS the establishment or at least used it to his advantage throughout his business career. That's not a characteristic of a principled individual that wants to tear down the system.

I think Deez was a regular on Austin 3:16.

Ahh...the good ole days. Maybe that's one thing The Donald can bring back and get right.

She's definitely my type. I've always had a thing for chicks with glasses, and Cupp is just the right balance - nerdy and smart but with just the right amount of skank.

Me too, because you know there's an inner freak there that's dying to come out, but is that stereotype real? I never had a librarian who looked like that. If I had, I would have spent a lot more time in the library. I may not have been studying school work, but I would have been studying something.

I'll divert my attention away from Miss Cupp for a few minutes for this. I agree with what Bush is doing. If Trump has a vulnerability it's his extreme lack of ideological purity. The crap he's saying is stuff a liberal Democrat would have been saying 30 years ago when they still tried to attract white middle class voters. There's very little conservatism in his message. Bush certainly isn't a staunch conservative, but he has a lot more credibility in claiming conservatism than Trump does.

Also, Trump is going to act like a colossal hand job no matter what the other candidates do, because that's the source of his appeal. Acting like a wealthy Archie Bunker is his whole rap. Bush may as well stand up for himself so he doesn't look weak.

OK, back to drooling over SE Cupp.

My other fave is Remy Spencer, an NJ attorney who often occupies the "leg chair" on Red Eye. It doesn't hurt that I worked with Remy years ago, before she became famous-ish.

Here's a pic with both of them. Yum.

I have to say I approve of the direction this thread has taken...

I do think we have a lot of people in this country that want something to be true so badly that they'll believe it in the face of all logic. Trump is very clearly not a conservative, and while I'm not sure how much of what he says is really what he believes, or how much is lip-service to pander to his audience, and how much is a flat-out lie in order to get elected, it's pretty clearly that he's convinced a lot of people who have traditionally been single-issue voters that the single issue they should be focusing on is shutting down the borders.
