What is the base line for this year?

I hear people say it is 6-6. However, UCLA and OU would be vastly different outcomes if Ash, Espinoza, and all the other OL suspensions had not materialized. I think 8-4 is the baseline. This is why I think the 8-4 predictions for this year seem too conservative.

i think the schedule is tougher this year so i may not speak for everyone but i believe a similar record is in order with essentially the same team, we lost some experience on defense although i think we are deeper this year on both sides of the ball they are very young and i expect that youth to help us out alot but there is always growing pains with freshmen so i think 7-6 is realistic but 8-4 and 9-5 are possibilities.

It's subjective but my gut tells me that 8-4 at a minimum needs to happen. We're young so that may be optimistic but this is Texas.

I like the base line Montana assumed this afternoon late in the game down 31-35 with less than 2 min to play and starting on their own 20 yard line with 80 yards to go for an improbable win given the time left and the fact they were playing #1 ranked defending back to back to back to back... however many...titles by N. Dakota State.

That game set the tone for me for this season -- the team I was pulling for won!!

We should learn to draw our own base lines.

My Overs & Unders is 8. In other words, less than 8 is a disappointment for me. 9 + would represent a significant and positive trend.

I am not ruling out an upset next Saturday at ND which would, to state the obvious, represent a major turning point for Strong & Texas football.

I am right with Dukesteer. Anything over 8 is a great step forward.

The baseline is simple at Texas, Conference Championship and a shot at the playoffs or the NC!!!

Nothing else will ever be acceptable!!!!!

There is not a game on our schedule we can't win!!!

There is not a a game on our schedule we can't lose!!!

    I'm taking the season week-by-week.

For this week, my baseline is to do better against #11 Notre Dame than our archrival Wofford does against #12 Clemson. Anything less would be truly devastating. An outright win would be a bonus.

I have thought about this more since the thread started on Saturday.

I kept vascillating between a very young team, a tough schedule going 7-5 AND the second year of CS at UT, a team that should be much improved that should finish at least 8-4.

We all should know a LOT more about how to handicap / project the probable results of this season after this first game, but right now I am going to say 8-4 is my baseline.

You must be devastated. Wofford outscored Horns.

6-6 at best. We may only win 5.
