It is time to be focused and ready for the game. We must be calm, cool and collected. Let's keep our composure. Charge the atmosphere. Those who can go to the game cheer as loud as you can. Those who can't cheer your tv screens. We must now start the synergy. Wear burnt orange and do the Hook 'em Horns sign often. Fly your UT flags. We must help our team. Start now! Our team can do it and we can help. A new era is coming. HOOK 'EM HORNS!
What really helps the excitement is the new, color-correct, totally awesome, COUNTDOWN CALENDAR posted by @Dionysus on the threads pages! Just another layer of icing he's added to help this site look and "taste" so good.
Heading to San Antonio to watch my daughter's high school band play and watch a good high school football game. Then heading back home to Austin to sit my *** in front of the TV all day watching a full slate of college ball. Capping it with the upset of the weekend in South Bend. Oh man, I can't believe it's FINALLY here!
Ladies & Gentlemen, Bill in Sinton is in the house! All is right again in the HF world. Out front of my house, the burnt orange Bevo flag goes up Friday morning and in the afternoon I will travel West to meet up with my Brother in Fort Worth for the weekend and Sat. night, we will sip liberal libations while laser FOCUSED on the game! Cheers, a toast to the Horns and BEAT THE HELL OUTTA NOTRE DAME!!!
FOCUSOSITY is a prime ingredient, indeed perhaps the prime ingredient, in the preparation for TOTAL VICTORY, a concept we modern peoples with our monotheistic religions, all of them fine in their own way, are perhaps not fully ready to comprehend to the extent needed to get the full measure of its many virtues. I wish I could recall what Jimmy Durante said about FOCUSOSITY because it was one of the more startling things he ever sang about in his long and glorious career. Durante was, I believe, echoing the ideas of Sophocles, who long ago on the Agean made a remark that inspired Matthew Arnold, who also had some brilliant things to say about the collapse of culture, which has nothing to do with Saturday's game at all, but which came to my mind in a flash, which if not blinding, was at least an occasion for a blink. But I think we can all join our friend Bill in Sinton in at least attempting to focus and thereby gain a level of FOCUSOSITY that can be of help in overcoming the greenish hordes from Indiana and their garish quasi-religious attempts to graft the great game of football onto the supposed desires of their Deity, who is a fine god as gods go but not a reliable source for justice or charity on the fields of play. Focus!!!
For the truly focused, there is no time or space, only the "Bill in Sinton" zone of true focus awareness.
