Minn running up the middle on TCU with success. Just fumbled in the end zone though for a touchback. Otherwise, TCU in control. Could be interesting in 2nd half.
You know TCU doesn't look that unbelieeeeeevable to me. Not on offense not on defense. Doesn't look like Patterson got to bring the girl who follows him around and carries his towel or water bottle on road trips either. Must be a new NCAA rule.
That's a Heisman Trophy candidate? Not very impressive. Especially for an offense that returned so many starters. And did I hear right? Tonight's game was one of the hottest games played at Minnesota? The thermometer read 82.
A win is a win, but damn that was ugly. The frogs had sever chances to put their foot on Minny's mech and administer the coup d'gras but messed it up. Not very impressive for a #2 ranked team. Minn may be a lot better than they showed tonite.
It's the first game. A lot of teams look shaky in their first game. Okie State & Arizona looked pretty bad also. Was funny in the 4th quarter (75° at that point) and the announcers were like "it's incredible how few cramps we've had this game" .... I guess they'd never been in the southern half of the USA before in their lives?
Exactly what I thought. I also thought the Horns probably could have beaten them last night. FWIW, I looked at the frogs lineup in a pre-season mag and the Offense, heh-heh, they have 10 Seniors starting on O with 1 Jr., a WR. That "prolific" O will completely turnover after this season (as Worster licks his chops).
I wouldn't put too much stock in TCU's less than sparkling showing. All you want from the first game is a win and no injuries. If the Horns could only be so fortunate......we'll see.
Wow! 10 Srs and 1 Jr on the starting O. I have a feeling they should enjoy this season, the next couple are going to tuff.
I thought TCU tried to force the ball downfield instead of sticking with the short game. Their TD in the first quarter wasn't a long bomb. Green was running the ball really well. There was no need for Boykin to roll out and attempt 15-to-30-yard passes all night, or take off and risk getting smacked. I was impressed with the way Minnesota used a lot of tempo running plays, like we're supposedly going to do. If they had backs that could hold on to the ball, or receivers who knew where the first down markers were, they could have made it more of a game.
Pretty mediocre across the board, but I felt that way about everyone I saw. Frankly I thought Minnesota's QB was just awful... had he been solid, I think they might have pulled it out. Patterson's probably thrilled, because he got the win and still delivered a pretty stern wake-up call to his team. They'll be better when they play us, but I'm definitely not buying that they're in another league. (Literally OR figuratively...)
What little I saw of the Utah-Michigan game, Utah looked sharp, prepared, ready and up for playing fast and hard. And they did. They had players in position for making plays, and they were soundly mentally in the game. Albeit a fresh start under a new coach for UM. But Utah looked more ready to play than just about any team I saw last night. I did not see a whole lot of the Okie-State game, though.
Michigan looked slow and they clearly don't have the horses right now but it was also evident that Harbaugh will get them back to where they should be soon.
Bank of America is the worst. The absolute worst. Texas' offense vs Arkansas was better. If I was a jihadist, I would detonate myself in the lobby.
