She underwent seven hours of surgery yesterday. The scans had come back negative, indicating the cancer was gone, but here was one place that could only be investigated through surgery. There is NO cancer left! Not to bore you with details but we were told that there may be as little as a 4% chance of survival. Still the early diagnosis was the key, plus the quality of physician care, new medications, and the technology. She will remain in the hospital a few days, but they already have her sitting up to eat. A huge "thank you" for all the prayers and offer of assistance. Some of us may have our differences of opinion about our athletic department, but when our chips were really down, this board rose in support of our family. Thanks again to each and everyone of you. This is truly a miracle and an answer to so many prayers.
It's a miracle for all of us here and transcends sports. It puts in perspective what really is important in life.
Absolutely OUTSTANDING news, @SabreHorn! Thanks for updating us. Please send her our best wishes for continued good health and happiness.
This is great news SH! This is family and it does transcend everything around here. My very best wishes for her complete recovery.
Sabre, that's wonderful. Her 4% chance happens. My sister was given a 95% chance of a kidney tumor being cancer. She was one of the 5%. It happens, prayers work.
That's GREAT news! I've been told I had cancer twice (thyroid and melanoma) but that was in 2003 and 2006 respectively so I'm obviously still here; it's a tough way to live having it hanging over your head but it is nothing like the dread when it's one of your children. You have my prayers always and I am sure you are very happy right now.
I told you that I would save her a ticket stub if we beat OU. I have a couple of other things for her also. PM me an address. Hope she is still doing well.
I don't know you, I have never met you. But your news on this thread and on this topic sends me to bed much happier than I already was. Thank you for sharing and I am so happy for you and your family/friends. There is not enough of this in the world so I will cherish and covet it if that's okay with you. YAY!
I wish this was not the first I had heard of your daughter's illness. I would have joined in to support in any way I could. The support provided to my wife from countless friends, acquaintances, and near strangers was key to helping her beat breast cancer. So I am very pleased to hear the results of your daughter's procedures and belatedly want to offer my help should any future needs arise.
