Devwah Whaley ..... Central Senior (Beaumont, TX) 4-star ..... RB ..... 6-0/190 ..... Georgia Piggy Devwah Whaley holds 20+ offers and has been selected to play in the Under Armour All-America Game. Per Scout: Whaley is a talented running back who is a very impressive athlete. Watching him run, he has the fluidity of a defensive back in how he jumps in and out of his cuts and is able to make defenders miss in tight spaces. Has a good build with upper and lower body strength. He does have that great hip/feet combo, but he is tough between the tackles and runs with very good power. Strengths: elusiveness, foot quickness, and size. Per BON: Once downfield Whaley can make cuts and change directions extremely quickly, darting out from behind blockers and shooting past flat-footed safeties. He can lower his pads and run with power. Per BR: At 6'0" and 205 pounds, Whaley has the body, speed and overall skill set to be a playmaker in the Big 12 and a valuable asset at Texas. [Shane] Buechele knows the Longhorns are in need of a quality running back commit, and Whaley can be that player. "Devwah is a player who can do mean things to a defense anywhere," Buechele said. "He can go in the gaps and can bounce it out and make people miss in space, then beat people with his speed. I would love to have a dude in the backfield like him."
Per HornSports (11-23): We were told there has been talk behind the scenes with Whaley and Davion Curtis indicating that both are very interested in playing together. Our source even went so far as to say it is a done deal. Over the weekend, Whaley visited Fayetteville and publicly named Arkansas his current leader. It’s a three team race right now between the Razorbacks, Texas, and Georgia, with the Bulldogs falling behind. Obviously the development from this weekend shouldn’t be ignored, but our source has been on the money the whole way with this recruitment so we have no reason not to believe him. Whaley is scheduled to officially visit Texas with Curtis on December 12, so we will keep an eye out for any signs surrounding his recruitment.
Whaley has reportedly committed to Georgia. http://espn.go.com/ncf/story/_/id/14232545/devwah-whaley-commits-georgia-bulldogs
The fact that Warren played should have told him just how quickly things can change. Anyone has a chance to play these days.
He committed to Georgia before the UT game kicked off, so Warren's great running game was not a factor.
Whoa! wuuuut!? That commitment didn't last long. Thought that might happen after the HC got canned. Go get him Charlie!!
Kipp Adams (247) CBd Whaley to Texas So did Taylor Hamm (the aggy guy who hangs in the restroom) and Tom Loy (Notre Dame guy)
Per HornSports: I've had Whaley pegged to Texas for some time, and our sources are still confident. I was even told there have been indications on from Whaley to people on the Texas side of things that he was planning to sign with the Longhorns. However, I will mention that I've spoken with others not on the Texas side of things that feel Arkansas is in the lead. Sources in Fayetteville mentioned to me that they would be very surprised if the top running back in the state didn't pick the Razorbacks. Basically both sides are confident for their programs and the consensus of the neutral people out there is that Arkansas holds a slight lead. The result of this is I found myself out on a limb among those out there picking Texas. Does that mean I'm backing out? Not exactly. My source on this has been very good this year and he's confident but he did mention that Whaley was on the fence about announcing, and regardless of who he picks he still plans on visiting Austin in January. I'm still going to go with Texas, but I think the most positive outcome would be to see Whaley push his announcement back and take his official to Austin before deciding.
At least one service has been saying for a little while that he would most likely commit to Arky today but still be open in his recruitment.
Well, we didn't want or need him anyway - he was never BIG12 ready. I'm sorry... I just had an aggy moment.
