Texas, ou, OSU and Tech....off we go to the Pac 12.....equally as sexy as going to the SEC, IMO....Big 12 is looked down upon and won't last without a championship game....l

Sure, getting our asses kicked over there is as sexy as getting it kicked in the Big 12.
I'm on board.I wonder where Baylor and TCU end up? SEC?

    That would be interesting.

Our current situation wasn't created by Mack Brown or by Charlie Strong. It was started by the demise of the Big 12 when teams like Colorado, Nebraska and aggy left because they couldn't win anymore in a conference with Texas and OU in it (much like when Arkansas left the SWC). When the SWC went down, Texas couldn't recruit anymore because no one wanted to play in the SWC anymore in the late 1980's. Now no one wants to play in the Big 12 anymore so recruiting is much harder. I agree we absolutely need to get rid of the Big 12 anchor around our neck. And get rid of the Longhorn network too. Why do we need Tech again? Why doesn't Texas just join the SEC? Bring OU along if they can unleash Ok St. Either way, we can still keep the game with OU. That would pretty much put an end to any aggy recruiting advantage.

Maybe to the All American might be able to compete for ship. It is not the conference it is about winning games.

Pretty sure the Texas/OU game would be played each year in Dallas no matter the conference affiliation with the teams.

OU was a charter member of the Southwest Conference (as was Oklahoma A&M, now Oklahoma State, both there at the start in 1915). Prior to that, Texas and OU began playing each other in 1900 with only 3 years without a game between them until OU left the SWC for the Missouri Valley Conference in 1920 for 8 years and the series was temporarily interrupted.

When OU joined the Big 6 (later, Big 7, then Big 8, then Big 12) the series resumed and has been played ever since.

The Texas/OU series has been played in-conference as an SWC game and as a Big 12 game, but FAR more times as an out of conference SWC v. Big 6/7/8 game than as an in-conference game.

OU NEEDS this game for recruiting the state of Texas. Texas needs this game for having a dependable very high profile annual game (now that Arkansas [at least when they were in the SWC] and aggy [somewhat] are no longer annual rival games) akin to USC-Notre Dame, Michigan-Michigan State, Alabama-Auburn, etc.

Was sad to see Nebraska and OU not continue their rivalry, but I think that's as much NU's taking a deep breath that they no longer have to face the Sooners every year.

The Big 12 was a short term answer to a long term problem. Expansion is out of the question as no one wants to get on a sinking ship. We are still Texas and we still can make the rules, with Castiglione at OU we will call the shots in the new league, the PAC XXX. Let Baylor go to the SMU conferences as talent and people in the seats shrink. I'm sure Ken Starr will call for an investigation since the Clinton son-in-law is Jewish. Sort of feel bad for TCU, I remember well when they were losing to UT-Arlington the year that UTA dropped football, or when we won 81-16 with less than 400 yards. But we need to get off of this train wreck now.

TCU has the right coach and with the right coach, they have won in every conference whether it was dying or not.

Don't know what sinking ship you're talking about. The B12 has 2 top 5 teams and ou. Although Baylor hasn't played anybody they might win it all this year. To me they look like they're playing at another speed. If the B12 wins the national title there won't be much to complain about. For us we have to start winning. If not we need to bring in a championship coach. It's really that simple. I think Charlie is the right guy but right now he's getting buried and it doesn't seem like he can turn it around unless we beat ou. The rest of the season depends on this game. The players need to have some pride and play like they want to be out there. There are some talented players on this team and it's time to show up.

LA to Seattle haven't moved (not yet anyway). 3 hours to California and 4 hours to Seattle. Everything else is closer. Only bummer would be we would have to drag sand aggy with us.

I must've missed something. Can you explain what this means? I almost (but not quite) understand the Starr reference. The Clinton and Judiasm references went over my head.
