Glimmer of hope versus OU?

We easily beat them in 2013. We statistically dominated them but ended up losing last year. Baker Mayfield was Texas Tech's starting QB when UT beat them 41-16 in 2013. Mayfield did not throw a single touchdown pass, threw a pick and was sacked 7 times by us in that 2013 game. Adrian Colbert, Duke Thomas, Peter Jinkens, and Bryce Cottrell all played in that game where Mayfield never scored and was shutdown. Daje Johnson returned a punt for a touchdown against OU in 2013. Even Nick Rose was 2 for 2 on field goals and 2 for 2 on extra points last year. I have no expectations, but maybe we can make a miracle happen? It happened under McWilliams many times and happened in 2013.

Edit: Oh, I forgot Norvell is familar with their team. Maybe he can help us exploit their weaknesses and win.

I used my glimmer up last week when I truly felt we'd upset TCU.

Nothing I've witnessed on the field this season tells me we can win this game. Even if leading late, I don't see us putting it away. This team just has no clue how to win...coaching staff included.

But as always in the RRS, being the favorite (even big) means little to nothing. Can't count how many times I've watched records mean d*ck in what actually happens on the field.

No! Just continue to look for incremental improvements. 14 of 22 starters are freshman, it's just goin to b a tough season. Ole miss had to start two true freshman yesterday on their OL because of injury, u should know by now they lost their first game. I'm not making excuses for CS cause the tcu game was a break down on many levels but he still has to have another good recruiting class before he can start competing.
I think he better go get himself a bona fide spread coordinator though n not hang his hat on norvel next season or he won't finish the season.

For me, this is the deciding moment for the season. If the players can't get fired up to play the sooners at the Cotton Bowl, they never will.

Well I tried. That's all I could come up with based on history and statistics. Maybe someone can think of something else. We are +5 and 18th nationally in turnover margin. Maybe we will get a bunch of turnovers. (FYI do not look up where we rank statistically anywhere else... trust me. You are better off not knowing.)

If it isn't the shine of the lube it is the white paint chips coming up into the air after the deep snapper flings it 40 yards over Dickson's head straight into the white paint of the end zone "o" of "cotton bowl". Or perhaps it is the plume of smuggled in Celis White flung in the air as the Dickson shank missile hits the 10th row 45 yard line seats of well healed Austinites re-living the spendor of years past in liquid form. Short of that, I got nuttin.

I am optimistic about the OU game. If we can limit our mistakes we will be in the game until the end.

I have a better chance of winning Powerball than UT has beating OU. I'm sick of this nonsense. Every week we can beat X, if Y falls in our favor! We used to be TEXAS! Now we are the laughing stock of college football.

So 14 of 22 are freshmen...but, they will still probably be coached by this same coaching staff next year and if any game is close, well, I guess they will figure out a way to lose. Also, how many will transfer after this year...does that mean 14 more freshmen will have to start next year? Alright, I will stop being a Donnie Downer, but that was awful on Saturday. As far as the original question, I just hope Stoops does not put up 70. I know he hated Brown, but he probably feels sorry for Strong and will stop at 60.

One advantage this coaching staff provides is that in some of our blowouts, the other team has felt sorry for us and taken their foot off the gas. TCU started just practicing in the 2nd quarter. So they've managed to obtain mercy and prevent a 60 point loss or worse. We'll see how it plays out with Stoops and Briles.

We'll be lucky to hold them under 50 and only lose by 30!

Our defense was totally baffled against TCU. On TCU's last TD, a run right up the middle, there wasn't a Longhorn anywhere to be found once the back cleared the LOS. Where the hell were the LBs?

I BELIEVE we can beat the toothless .......! We have to throw long to make that happen and that means we have to start Swoopes. Swoopes has the arm and we have the receivers to make this a game if he gets time to throw. Especially off of play action passes.
Young or not, we can win this game. For some unknown reason. Baker Mayfield does not seem to be a qb that can beat us. I am hoping Norvell can provide some insight to our defense.
If my count is right this will be my 26th in a row and 45 overall.
Nothing like sipping on a tepid beer at Hans Mueller at 08:00am.
    Go Horns!

Stoops is going to break it off in our defense this Saturday. I still hold out for a miracle in this game, but I'm also a realist. It's more likely that this looks like a Mack-era RRS wipeout than an upset win. I'd love to be proven wrong.

The only glimmer of hope I have is if the Horns show up and look like they've actually practiced at some point during the week. I'm becoming more and more disenfranchised with this coaching staff with every week that passes. No visible improvements from game to game. For that matter, you can't really see any improvements that have been made since the bowl game last year. Prepare for a major butt stomping.

The lack of game preparation is becoming very noticeable. It takes more than endless bull-in-the-ring sessions.

I'm not convinced this is true. Maybe RRS history means nothing here since if you go back 5+ years it's none of the same players, but for a while now either the teams are pretty much even, or the better team wins the game. In 1996, 1997 1998, 2005, and 2009 Texas was clearly better and won every year but 1996. In 2000, 2003, 2004, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 Oklahoma was clearly better and won every year but 2013. In 1999, 2001, 2002, 2006, 2007, and 2008 the teams were pretty much evenly matched.

Somehow we played very well against and ou last year. Should have won. Outplayed, out hit, out just about everthinged them except for the score. I felt we had turned a corner then, especially against Stoops. Stoops looked relieved for the first time in the post game handshake last year. Not the smug look like he always had with Mack Brown.

Now, however, I'm sure Stoops is licking his chops and they will annihilate us. Sorry, but this team and staff have shown nothing since the ou game last year to prove me wrong. I will gladly eat crow if we keep it within 14 points this year.

If Stoops can't get OU to score at least 50 on this Texas team he should be fired on the spot.
