what did you expect this year in terms of wins?

my friends were predicting 8 to 10 wins; I looked at the schedule and thought 4 to 5 was more reasonable given that we were starting freshmen on the O line and still had huge questions at QB.

So I am not particularly surprised at our current situation, though I did think we would beat OSU; they just turned out to be better than I expected. So is WV.

THis is a long season to endure; next year will be much better.

Three seasons ago TCU looked like we do now and I was wondering how it was that a smart guy like Gary Patterson could not find a better QB than the atrocious Trevone Boykin. Things got a lot better in a hurry for them. Probably will for us as well if the roof doesn't cave in.

I am going to be real interested in seeing how many empty seats there will be at Memorial Stadium if we waltz back home with a 1-5 record.

Our fans are notoriously fair weather types and this may get real ugly.

For those of you whining the loudest, how many games did you think we would win at the start of the season? If you said more than 5 or 6 then you were deluding yourself. Might you be doing the same now?

    Think Dunkirk

At the beginning of the year I thought we'd win them all. After Notre Dame I thought we'd lose only one. Now I believe we'll lose only 4.

After Notre Dame I thought we would win the Wimbledon Doubles title, the MLB National League pennant and make the World Bobsledding finals.

Seriously though, this team should be at least competitive with the talent we have. They are not prepared. I wonder what they do in practice every week because this team does not look like it practices playing football.

Year 2 should be an improvement. Even the lesser talent vets had experience in Strong's system and should've improved. In August, Strong himself said it's a big difference now that the kids were familiar with the staff's ways and expectations in Year 2.

Strong vowed that 6-7 was not acceptable and would never happen again. Strong expected more than 6 wins by pledging it, so did I. So now when he wins less than the amount he said was not acceptable, he should be held accountable like his own vow indicated.

I thought 2-10, maybe up to 4-8 due to Shawn Watson being retained after the Texas bowl. I need to figure out how to be wrong about Texas football and right about the lottery.

I felt ambitious at 7. Now I don't even think we win 5.

I thought 6 maybe 7 wins. I expected some losses but did not expect that we'd be noncompetitive to the extent I saw at ND and again on Saturday. After the TCU game. 2 maybe 3 wins this year.

Before the season started, I was thinking at least 7. Hoping for at least some improvement over last year given the unsettled QB situation. As pathetic as it sounds, we'll be lucky to get 3 this year.

I will claim I was drunk (I was sober) when I made my prediction of wins this season. I think I predicted 8... now I predict no more than 3 wins:whiteflag:.

If this team only wins 2 or 3 games CS may not survive for a year 3.

I feel sorry for any UT fan that supports retaining Strong with 5 wins or less. That would be a complete resignation of what Texas football stands for.

6 wins wouldn't be an improvement in victories, but would at least show his team improved much over the season by snagging 5 wins over the last 7 conference games.

But 5-7 or less in Year 2? Not a one of us would've agreed to his hiring had we known 11-14 would be the results over his first 25 games. Sorry but that's unacceptable at Texas, and Charlie Strong agreed and vowed it wouldn't happen again. If it does, he must face the music.

He said there would be no more double digit losses or blowouts at the end of last year. And what happened? First game, a double digit blowout loss at ND. Saturday, another double digit blowout loss, embarrassing loss, at TCU. The wagon got off the path and the wheels came off at ND. Looked like they were sort of back on after the three weeks that followed. Then after TCU, well, a picture is worth a thousand words....

i said 7 wins for the season was about right but i'm pretty sure i said that we would be competitive and i wasn't expecting the wheels to fall off on ND and TCU.

7-5 regular season with a bowl win was my dream season. At this point I realistically see the team going 4-8. The players look they're trying to think too much while the plays are in motion. Game day is time to let muscle memory take over and practice pay off. Maybe the pressure will be off after this early season crapfest and they'll play more loose. I dunno...

I didn't care about the number of wins because I knew it wouldn't be a great year, but I was really hoping to see improvement. Can't say there was any.

Was thinking 6-7 win range. Thought that we were definitely going to beat Cal and that OSU was vastly overrated (which is still very true). After starting 1-5 going into the first bye week, won't be surprised to see the players quit, and maybe even see some of them just walk away from all of it. Can't say I blame them...

The number of wins should reflect the improvement; however, we lost a couple of games that were due to chokes on special teams. If we were losing by a couple of points, that shows some improvement, but in the TCU game, what I saw looked like a bunch of guys decided it would be fun to dress up and play football. They bit on everything, and it's not like the frogs had never run the plays they used. The only area that showed promise was in the running game when Foreman was toting the ball. So, my perspective is that there has been no improvement on either side of the ball, and special teams, particularly the kickers, are grossly inconsistent. I would like to see the guys win 3 or 4 games post OU, but I don't believe that will happen. Only Kansas is as bad or maybe worse than we are at this point. The other question is, 'who's running the show?' Sure doesn't appear the coaches are in charge. This situation is plain weird.

8 or 9, but I didn't figure our schedule would be this tough: Four top 25 teams in the first five games. And I didn't know we'd start two freshmen on the O line; and I didn't know there would be 5 or 6 freshmen playing on the defense.

Still, I think we could have/should have won at least one more game. Either osu or Cal. But dumb special teams play sunk us. I mean the kicker and the punter. Surprised that tcu beat us down as badly as they did.

I expected 6 to 7 wins as part of rebuilding the program. I could guarantee 2 for 200K in salary.

7 wins but who could have foreseen the horrible play of the upperclassman. What did we hear, Swoopes is a new guy taking a leadership role the light has come on he is light years ahead of where he was in the Arkansas game. Yeah that was quite the overstatement and is the main reason I hate the offseason reports they are notoriously unreliable.

I love Swoopes, especially after his performance and ATTITUDE after Oklahoma State. But the fact that CS hired offensive coordinators who saw Swoopes as our future QB tells me everything I need to know.
