Charlie Weiss first 18 games at Kansas:
    3-15
    20 or more point losses:
    2012: Kansas 16 @ #7 Kansas State 56 (40 points)
    2012: Kansas 7 @ #10 Oklahoma 52 (45 points)
    2012: Kansas 14 @ Baylor 41 (27 points)
    2012: Kansas 23 Iowa State 51 (28 points)
    2012: Kansas 10 @ West Virginia 59 (49 points)
5 blowout losses, only 1 at home year 1.
    2013: Kansas 16 Texas Tech 54 (38 points)
(stopped at first 18 games, however Kansas was blown out 5 more times in 2013 if anyone is curious)
(Kansas also had a few close games they almost won, including against a ranked Texas Tech in 2012)
6 total blowout losses, 2 at home.

Charlie Strong's first 18 games at Texas:
    7-11
    2014: Texas 7 BYU 41 (34 points)
    2014: Texas 7 #7 Baylor 28 (21 points)
    2014: Texas 0 @ #11 Kansas State 23 (23 points)
    2014: Texas 10 #4 TCU 48 (38 points)
2014: Texas 7 Arkansas 31 (24 points) *Texas Bowl in Houston
5 blowout losses, 3 at home year 1
    2015: Texas 3 @ #11 Notre Dame 38 (35 points)
    2015: Texas 7 @ #4 TCU 50 (43 points)

7 total blowout losses, 3 at home.

I am mostly curious whether or not Texas fans think our talent level was on par with Kansas.

Bahahaha! Everyone, everywhere tries to say Mack left us no talent, and you have just proved that either we are Kansas or we have a **** staff! Take your pick!

"We are Kansas" - wasn't that the name of a movie? No, the appropriate saying is "Je suis Charlie" which, coincidentally, originated as a result of a different kind of massacre.

So we now have a blowout loss contest between Weiss and Strong for the first two years? The fact that after 18 games Strong has one more blowout loss than a Weiss coached Kansas team with terrible talent is mind boggling.
77, now you have made me relook at the schedule to see if it possible Strong could actually have more blow out losses than Weiss at Kansas in the first two years.
I do NOT want to see that happen.

Unfortunately, blowout #8 isn't far away. Unless the defense improves dramatically, #9 (WV), #10 (Tech) and #11 (Baylor) are well within grasp.

Our talent level is much better than Kansas. We're not doing much with it right now and may have some less talented individuals in the wrong places.

I guess the bright point is more than double the wins (3 to 7)...

Interesting comparison to the two programs ... Kansas' non-conf schedule in '12 isn't anything CLOSE to what Texas has this year, however.

Again ... I'm all-in for Charlie through 2017. He needs to make some changes. I'm not sure precisely what, but I've never been a fan of an offense which doesn't attack the LOS the vast majority of the time; run or pass.

The flea flicker marginal call in the OSU game isn't a factor if we are running and throwing at the LOS and downfield rather than beside it.

We have Notre Dame, California, USC, Maryland, LSU, Ohio State and Michigan on our future schedules. If our head coach cannot handle the heat of the tough non conference schedules that are part of Texas Longhorn football, he needs to get out of the kitchen.

Stoops deals with tough nonconference schedules (and tells jokes about the SEC after beating their teams). Harbaugh dealt with playing Utah and Oregon State. I see no reason why a coach making $5 million a year at UT cannot either.

Clearly not, which is probably why we didn't go 3-15.

But the OP wanted to compare UT and Kansas as if their schedules were comparable. They are not. Take out ND and BYU and replace them with Kansas' opponents and Strong is 9-9. Nobody is arguing that 9-9 is awesome, but we are disagreeing with the OP that it's practically identical to Kansas.

    trolling? No.

I took a peek at that 12 Jayhawk schedule ... one may have been ranked IIRC ... certainly not top 10. South Dakota State, Rice (worse than the 2015 team), TCU (was where we are now; gary patterson), Northern Illinois body & fender repair, (and Jayhawk lost!)

Maybe you take issue with my aversion to sideways ball?

... and I always thought more of the Jebusites.

2012 Rice went 7-6 and defeated Air Force in the Armed Forces Bowl. 2015 Rice is 2-3 with wins over Wagner and North Texas. 2015 Rice lost last week to Western Kentucky 49-10. The jury is still out on if 2015 Rice is better than 2012 Rice. Maybe they are, maybe they are not.

2012 Northern Illinois went 12-2 and played Florida State in the Orange Bowl. Their QB was a heisman candidate. Kansas lost at Northern Illinois 23-30.

2012 TCU was ranked #16 in the country when it played Kansas but only finished 7-6 losing to Michigan State in a bowl game. I am unsure we are currently a 7-6 team.

oops ... my bad ... I thought it was N ill State.

OK ... great. KU had a monster schedule and was 1-11.

Guess we can't do worse than that ... or can Alan Eck's booth reverse a few calls in the Rice game?
