They would be as the first franchise with the same name and city. Milwaukee Brewers being the other to do that in reverse fashion from the Astros. They went from the AL to the NL. Franchises change from time to time, but mostly stay in the same League. Such as the Milwaukee Braves became the Atlanta Braves. The Washington Senators in their second version became the Texas Rangers. That Braves team really got around with franchise names. They started as the Boston Red Stockings, then my personal favorite, the Beaneaters, then the Bees, Doves, Pilgrims, then finally the Braves. Babe Ruth plays his final games there because the Yankees wouldn't let him become a manager. Still, if only the Astros could play a split squad World Series between themselves, it would assure a win and make some real baseball history. Selig or no Selig. I wonder if they could get the Astrodome ready in time to serve as the home park for the NL Astro squad?
Thanks. I really appreciate the information. Have the Brewers been in the WS as both the NL and AL champ? As for getting the Dome ready, I would love to get inside and see what's left. There are smells that melt away decades and bring you back to a place of your youth. For me, one I fear I'll never get to smell again is the smell of the Dome. It kind of smelled like if you could air condition the State Fair and not change the filters that often. Anywho, I'm stoked about the Stros and hope they hang it to the Royals.
The Brewers have only been in a World Series as an American League team, back in the Robin Yount era in 1982. They lost to the Cardinals in seven games.

First game out of the box tomorrow, with a chance to close out the series at home. Big stage for McCullers, but he does have great stuff and can shut people down, when in command of it. Really don't want to go back to KC.
concur about McCullers...he has had too many outings where he was throwing the 100th pitch in the 5th inning. Cannot afford to have one of those games and then have to rely on the bullpen...even if Qualls isn't on the playoff roster, the pen just seems a weak spot.
I hate being prophetic when it is about bad outcomes...seven runs in two innings is just inexcusable. They HAVE to find some decent relief pitchers in the off-season. At least now, maybe good players might have an interest in coming to play for Houston.
Going to be hard for the Stros to recover from that fiasco on the road in KC. They need a good setup man and a big time closer.
This series (and that game) simulates the Astros' season--out in front, give it all away, but have one last chance to get back in at the end. The odds are a little against them, but it's not that different from going to NY to play a one-game playoff against the Yankees. A variable, immature psyche is just what you need to shrug off a devastating loss that an experienced team might chalk up to fate being against them.
Pretty much as expected, a pretty lifeless effort and the Astros lose 7-2 and the season ends. Not much of anything positive except the home run. It just felt like a matter of time till the Royals would start hitting and win the game. A nice season though and the Astros, who most thought were a year or two away from a post season run made things interesting much longer than expected. Should be a bright future ahead and maybe Keuchel wins the Cy Young, it's either him or Price.
They are on the same trajectory as the CFB Horns. Good in 2016, great in 2017. With most front offices, I'd worry that they will panic and overspend (with money or prospects) to get a relief pitcher or two. I trust the Astros brass to be patient, letting young talent develop and/or picking up valuable discards from teams that aren't as disciplined. We can't afford to be the Yankees, running to the free-agent market or making splashy trades to plug holes. Plus, that approach doesn't sit right with me.
