The play that not many people will talk about, but what a heads-up job in the first quarter. Picks up the loose ball in the end zone, and is now credited with the TD because it was in fact a fumble.

He stayed with the play, very smart.

After the officiating against OSU, that should have been a TD as it was called on the field. There was no way you could say Swoopes was losing the ball before the goal line. It as too bang bang. That was about as close as the TD we had taken away on the lateral/pass on the first play of the 2nd half against OSU.

Both announcers thought Swoopes had the TD. Officials once again inserting themselves into a play where they shouldn't. We got lucky we picked up that TD.

Can't believe the defender quit on the play. I wonder what happens if the ball stops in bounds, no player picks it up because they all believe the play is over, and a ref picks up the ball because the ruling on the field is TD. And review rules it a fumble.

I think in that case they go to "no clear recovery before the whistle" and it would go back to the offense at the point of last possession. So we'd have had 3rd and goal literally an inch from the goal line.

What are players supposed to do when the ref blows his whistle to signal the play dead.

That was the mistake on the play, the play was dead, anything after that shouldn't be allowed. The officials in the booth saw an out for them, and ruled a Texas recovery, it resulted in the right call anyway.

The play was blown dead when Swoopes was thought to have scored, so it can't be anything other than an inadvertent whistle, which means it can't be anything other than a touchdown. There aren't do overs in football for an inadvertent whistle or replay reversals.
