At the end of the 3rd quarter Foreman had an 81 yard run, and that drive resulted in a TD putting us up 24-10. That run was huge, and essentially led to the game winning TD.

Besides the long run, Foreman had 8 carries for 36 yards, an average of 4.5 yards per carry.

On our next possession after that TD, I was saying to myself, "Alright! Lets pound the rock with Foreman! Put this game away!"

Well we did NOT pound the rock with Foreman, and instead he was benched for the remainder of the game! o_O

Instead Jonathan Gray was given 6 carries in the 4th quarter after Foreman's 81 yard run.
Gray for the game had 22 carries for 76 yards, an average of just under 3.5 yards per carry.

In the end it worked out anyway, we got the win, but I don't get it. Great run kid! Now you see that bench over there? Go take a seat because you're done for the day. I didn't want to crap on our win so I saved this thought for a few days after the game, but I'm still nervous about the ability of this coaching staff.

J Gray saved our *** in the first half when we fed him the ball and ran out the clock with 6 straight runs and two big first downs. This killed any additional momentum OU could have gotten by getting a second score before the half had we been forced to punt.

Given Gray's first half success at ball control and also his excellent record of ball security, I am perfectly OK with the staff feeding him at the end of the game as well. I think you're nitpicking here.

Yeah, Gray did a good job saturday. He did his typical "fall at first contact" much of the time but he came through as mentioned above at critcial times. My only guess is that had Texas been tied or behind then we would've seen Foreman, but when all we need to do is not F up, I think Charlie's trust in J-Gray kept Gray on the field.

J Grays "excellent record of ball security", I am sorry where are you pulling this record from? If not for his poor record of ball security, Malcolm Brown would never had seen the field!!! Almost every time over the past 3 years(minus injury time) when he got going that ball squirted loose. Someone gave a reason that J Gray knows how to line people up as the reason he is in the game. As I stated before the OU game, give the ball to Foreman 50 times and we beat OU. Foreman and Gray could be on the field at the same time, especially on third down as they are both threats out of the backfield and they are both serviceable blockers. Foreman should have come out for one or two plays after that run and then inserted back in.....

Foreman and Warren and/or Johnson could be pretty scary in the next few seasons.

Yeah, I agree. I'm nitpicking. But doesn't an 81 yard run earn him some more looks? Usually you get benched for fumbling or otherwise goofing up, not putting us in position to win with a big play. Foreman got benched for an entire quarter after basically our best play of the season.

It may not be anything but Foreman looked very gimpy to me as they were walking in to the room for the post game conference. I would assume an injury would have been reported so maybe it was just a really unique pimp-strut.

Maybe Coach Strong did not want Foreman getting injured and instead opted to give the senior those carries. Gray was fine saturday. I do not think he deserves hate after the win and I do not think Strong deserves critiscim for playing him (or much else) this week. That's just me.

Gray should only be in on spot duty and passing downs, he is a better pass blocker, well overall blocker than Foreman. I would like to see them both in the game at the same time. They both have great hands and run good routes.

No hate on Gray, he is just not as good as Foreman and honestly I noticed it last year when Foreman got spot duty I could not understand why he didn't get more looks....

I can see Johnson going in motion like against OU and then you have Heard, Gray and Foreman who could all get the ball.....if they all did a simultaneous head fake, unstoppable, unstoppable!!!!!!

Once upon a time there was a Coach who had a deep, deep stable of quality running backs. He was very perplexed. What to do, what to do. Only one football, and so many OPTIONS. So this coach went to the forest to talk to the wizard of options, and laid out his dilemma. The wizard listened closely, and put the Coach into a deep trance. While in the trance, the wizard whispered secrets and spells into the coach's ear.

The coach woke up some time later, laying peacefully under a big oak tree with a giant longhorn grazing a short distance away. He jumped up and ran home. He locked himself in his coach's den. A day later he came out shouting, "Wishbone!! Wishbone!!"

The coach's wife immediately fried a chicken and gave the coach the wishbone to eat--his favorite piece. The coach was grateful, but said between bites, "No, not chicken, OPTIONS!"

The wife was baffled, and thought her poor husband had gone batty.

After finishing the chicken, the coach ran to his office by the practice field, explained his plan to his assistants. Thirty some odd victories later the Coach was not just a coach any more, but a full fledged legend. Well, truth be told, he was well on his way to being a legend already, but the new plan of how to use his running backs just sealed the deal.

    That's an interesting story carryhorn.

What I recall was coach Royal going to Emory Bellard and asking him to design an offense for his stable of great running backs and the result was a new variation of the Veer offense. It looked like a Y and when asked what the new offense was called, Coach Royal said the "Y offense."

Sports writer Mickey Herskowitz said that wasn't a very original name for the new offense and he coined the name "Wishbone." Coach Royal said ok and the name stuck.

    The rest is history.

Well, I did take some artistic liberties, I admit. Emory just might have been the elf in the story or the longhorn grazing. Or the Coach's wife who gives coach the "wishbone." So many possibilities.

The article I read about a potential Warren transfer had his mother stating that they wouldn't be "shy" about looking in to a transfer if Coach Strong was let go. I'm hoping to see Warren on the field if..IF...Texas can get up on Kansas in a couple of weeks.
