Which Texas team shows up Thursday night?

I have no idea what to expect.

While predictions are all but useless with this mystery team, it'd be a little easier if we knew the status of Foreman. I expect if he's out or limited it would lower our chances quite a bit. A beast like Foreman would shred this awful run defense. Gray not so much as the tackle breaking element is far inferior.

Warren should have a field day against that defense.

I think our secondary gets scorched but I'll be their cheering for the best.

Warren doesn't have the moves to make tacklers miss or the break away speed that Foreman has.

I think of the nice gain Warren had against WVU, but if that had been Foreman, it would have been a touchdown.

Hopefully Texas can just grind out first downs and have sustained drives to score and dominate the time of possession in the game.

Probably the same one that's shown up for all the home/neutral games so far. Not world-beaters, but Tech is hardly Okie State or even Cal.

Don’t tell Tech but Warren’s been working on his head fake this week.

I change my prediction. No Foreman and Gray...no win. We lose by 10+. Hope I'm wrong but doubt it very seriously. To me, Foreman was our meal ticket to the win.

I picked the Horns to win as I know no other way to pick. My mind goes numb, facts go out the window and I always end up predicting a Texas win.

Our offensive game plans this year seem to have been concocted by the "three monkeys and a rock" process which I hope is not used this time. Hopefully, we start Swoopes, a fullback and the best running back remaining that is healthy and then grind, grind, grind the ball at 3-4 yards a pop on 7 minute drives ending in touchdowns. If we shorten the game and get at least two defensive stops, we could win 35-24. (The 35 includes one pick six.)

Tyrone Swoopes may run for 100 yards. I'm kind of hoping this is a Kirk Johnson coming-out party, and it may well be. I've seen enough to know that he's got some definite ability and as a typical freshman, doesn't always channel it where it needs to go.

Not sure if Heard will have huge ground numbers but I expect he's going to do a lot of "shorten-the-sticks" scrambles, and if he does that he'll keep us in manageable situations.

Honestly, if the offense plays like it did against West Virginia without the turnovers, I think this team grinds out a bunch of drives, scores at least 31 and gets the win.

If the offense plays like they did at WVU? Would that be without the biggest difference make in the WVU game??? Not to mention also losing Vahe as a blocker.

This just illustrates how much losing Foreman will alter our chances of success. Against WVU:

    J. Gray - 14 for 57, 4.0 ypc, 0 TD
    Foreman: 18 for 152, 8.2 ypc, 1 TD

Sure the young backs have a chance to outdo Gray, but Foreman is a miles bigger threat than all 3. We needed Foreman's breakaway ability to combat Tech's big play quick scoring ability. This one is now gonna be awfully tough to say the least.

If we have our top backs, we have a chance. Don't forget that with a planned running attack, Swoopes and Heard are huge running threats.

Hate to be pessimistic, but I think Tech wins 41-24 or something like that, basically exactly how the WVU game went.

We play much better at home, but hard for a team to rally when only 40k are there! Thanksgiving games without A&M have been absolutely dreadful in attendance with an exception of TCU in 2012. Students don't have any incentive to stay for the games anymore

To be fair, Warren has been hurt this season. Hopefully he has had time to heal up lately.

I'll be there on TG. I was at the KSU game with only 27-28,000 fan officially, but that was in a downpour of rain. This game with rain potentially during the game, may have about the same. I like to be at Senior Night to show some love for the seniors regardless of record.

Other than that, between Patterson's shenanigans and the team's poor record I can only see lots of empty seats this year and next. If Mike Perrin becomes AD (or whom ever gets the nod for the job) can reverse what SP did, some fans may return. But that does not imply an easy fix. Too much damage has been done. Hopefully Strong will improve the W-L record in 2016 and that will help (assuming he's not shown the door).

I can support the team, but the rest is out of our hands or at least that is what I believe.

We will have a very tough time keeping up with ttu's scoring machine. IMHO, they will score their average, 46 per game. Don't see how we match them. Our best runners are out. Arguably our best O lineman is out (Vahe). And ttu will absolutely stack the box with 7 or 8 daring us to pass, and spy Heard.

I don't think we can beat that defense with the pass often enough to win a shootout. Hope I'm wrong.:brickwall:

Tech has two scoring machines and one is their defense. Nothing like scoring 53 at home and losing by 17 points, to OSU.

OSU did most of their damage with their running game in the second half. The Cowboys had been trailing by 17 points.

A good rain storm can slow down a passing attack. So could a good pass rush, like against OU.

Tech has also had a phobia about playing Texas in Austin, plus Texas has played much better at home.

If they stack the box, bring in Swoopes and use a two tight end set and play power football. They can stack the box all they want, but they still will only have eleven men on defense.

As my old high school coach used to say, "put a hat on a hat and run the ball down their throat."

Then use some play action, like in the OU game, where there were multiple wide open receivers for Swoopes to throw to.

That would be nice. It helps to have a big old experienced, damn good, O line and top running back, to do it. We don't.

If we are that low on running backs, I wouldn't mind throwing Gaston Davis out there to run the ball. He always seems to run hard and was tough to bring down when he got a chance to get on the field.

I kind of see this as a must win for Strong's season. Stop the bleeding to some extent with a tech win to be 5-6 with a probable loss coming versus BU next week and ending the season 5-7. That or losing to Tech and stumbling into the holidays and prime time recruiting with a horrid 4-8 record.

After all the weirdness this season it is hard for me to predict this tech game, especially with the injuries to Foreman and Gray. Tech will score some points on our D. BUT, I think the Horns run the ball successfully just enough with Warren and Heard lights 'em up on the ground along with with some key throws to WR's. Tech D tires in the second half and the Horns pull away with a 7-10 point win.

However, like previous predictions I made about this team I could be dead wrong about the Horns winning.
