I was hoping we were going to get better each game. Not the case after watching this game. I'm sure there is a lot of things they are working on, but it was obvious the freshman are still learning the plays. They looked lost out there. They were needing to be directed where to be. Not bashing them entirely......they have the hustle and "want". Higgs made some pretty coast to coast plays, which is great. That may be what she likes to do most, but in setting up a play she is looking lost. They both have talent, obviously. Higgs needs to remember she has four other players on the court with her and to finish her shots! It seems she always works so hard to get to the basket but then throws it up and misses. Hosey had some brain farts, but again, you can see raw talent. Honing it in will be key!

Bri looked so good and comfortable. So proud of her! Celina is looking so much more comfortable than she did last year. She's not second guessing herself and it has paid off! Kudos to Imani for hitting her 1000 pt. mark! Sarah played VB???? LOL Of course I'm just kidding......she looks like a basketball player!

It may be just me, but its looking like we are NOT "meshing" on the floor (starters or not). Kind of like....each player is doing something good from time to time, and there's a lot of hustle but it doesn't look "team-like". No one talks on the floor and it just looks hum drum. I would chalk it up to being the first of season, but these girls (or most of them) have been playing preseason and scrimmaging all summer. Hoping that changes with better teams. Glad we won, but we will definitely have to step it up to compete with stronger teams. This team was pretty good and they gave us fits! Wondering what Tennessee has up their sleeves. Lets hope to the good Lord they don't play ZONE against us!!!!

I think the Tennessee matchup, and even more so the upcoming 6-game stretch, will tell us a lot about where we're at. Two top 10 teams, another top 15, and two more solid opponents (inc one ARV in latest poll); only one of the next six contests might be classified as significantly weaker competition for the Horns. Overall I think we're about where most thought we would be right now - 4-0 and avg margin of victory of 35 vs. lesser teams. I have been happy with Lashann's play thus far. She has a shooter's mentality and wants to score, but she is also a freshman, and will make typical frosh mistakes. She'll play smarter, and her selection will get better, as the season progresses. Overall, reaching double figures in three of her first four outings; gotta be happy with that. She also leads the team in steals, and is second in rebounding (what?!) through four games. Love that hustle!
