I know I have been on record as strongly in favor of one more year. So feel free to call me a sunshine pumper and disregard if you will...

But if you are open-minded, take note of how many players having their numbers called today, and making big plays, are freshman, or RS freshman, or true sophomores....
If you are really paying attention, it is remarkable.

Even when they have their numbers called in a bad way its been near good... example: Holton Hill having the interception popped free and turned into a TTU TD. (Majomes basically threw an INT and got damned lucky)

To me, it would be a shame not to give Charlie one more year. I'll admit he has made some mistakes with coordinators, but damn if he is not a good evaluator of football talent. Now give him a half a chance to develop it.

I think because of the AD limbo we're in, there's no doubt that it's easier to give him another year than to pony up $15 million (and whatever a new staff would cost) and risk going 4-8 again with Herman or whoever people are clamoring for.

It’s damn painful to watch but this team could be good next year. I just hate to think of what happens if they are not dramatically improved. Another year like this one, ugh...

This 4-7 and maybe 4-8 record bothers me.

You have forgotten Iowa St. 24-0 to friggin Iowa St. No, you don't get another year. I'm all for 2nd chances, but this year he had to show improvement. Not total collapse. This was his 2nd chance. Let him develop his skills somewhere else, but not on our dime. Our best WR recruit is going to Baylor. Why? Because we don't have a single viable QB on campus. Not one. UT can't seem to get one decent QB on campus. We won't look in the Juco ranks. We can't develop them, and now our hope is pinned on another incoming freshman. Meanwhile Briles can roll one out after another. It's called coaching and this staff doesn't have it.

Charlie should have brought in an OC after last year. It was his mistake and he has no one to blame but himself. Loyalty is great in friendships, but makes bad business partners.

Agreed that there are some good pieces in place. Charlie got absolutely zero breaks last night, and none of that changes the fact that we're staring at 4-8. But I can see where a year more, better education of the young backers and DBs could make this a salty defense. I thought at times they really looked good - it wasn't until Tech finally just decided they were going to run the ball when we wilted.

Offensively, as bad as the Tech defense was, I'd also say that the o-line played really well. Warren ran well but there were some gaping running lanes for him. It's hard for me to tell how much was Warren being really good and how much was Tech being really bad.

I actually thought Heard was doing some nice things in the air before the concussion. (Oh great... here we go again with that!) I think between him and the new guy, we'll be ok, and if they bring in the Juco for more competition, so much the better. I do honestly think that this was rock bottom this year, the only question is how much better it gets. Because it does still need to get a LOT better.
