Saw this on a Reddit thread tonight.

If our o-line is serviceable the Foreman/Warren backfield could be nasty.

I'd imagine Perkins goes back to guard, Raulerson at center, and Nickelson/Rodriguez at right tackle. Perkins is a natural guard. Doyle hasn't exactly been lighting it up at center this year. I would be surprised to see the line drop off, especially if we keep Wickline. From what I've read, I get the feeling Wick isn't going to stay, but he does deserve credit for turning it around this year.

Quarterback is still a question to me. It isn't a given that Heard starts. I see him as the favorite, but he has not done anything to show he is head and shoulders better than Swoopes or an incoming freshman/transfer.

I'm most concerned at this point with linebacker and offensive coordinator.

Looks like a great opportunity for the head coach and AD to sit down and go over what it will take to get the most out of the situation. Throw open the question ... "What do we need to do to make it all happen?" "If it costs money, how committed are we?"

Recall that in providing breakfast, the hen was involved... the pig was committed.
For the Longhorns, which will it be? Involved? or fully committed... :hookem:

Ridgeway's status is uncertain at this time.

I don’t know but I remember all the buzz about Wickline was that he was one of the best in the business when he came over from OSU.

You think these guys are supposed to be good next year? I haven't seen much in this secondary, quarteback or offensive line to make a believer out of me.
Been watching OU. Seems like that is a loaded team. Beats the hell out of me how these returners pulled off the Dallas deal.

Marcus Johnson should be scratched out too.

Collin Johnson will likely be on the chart. Could we maybe get an OL Jr College guy?

Are the red shirts on there?

I don't think it'd be because he has been doing a bad job necessarily. I personally think he's probably frustrated with being paired with Watson to create an offense the last two seasons and getting blamed when it didn't work. This year's line is definitely an improvement over last year, but I think he leaves because he doesn't want to be here anymore.

The redshirts are not listed. It looks like someone just put the most recent two-deep in an Excel file and scratched out the seniors.

I think how many starters are returning is less critical that whether this crap coaching staff is returning or not.

Exactly. There was no discernable difference between the 2014 and 2015 teams. That, to me, points to a lack of coaching. When you look back and see we had all off season to find a QB and didn't, then made a huge change in the OC after the first game, you realize there was no system in place to begin with. Whatever talent this team has will not be realized with the current coaching staff (head coach included). It's great to have returning starters coming back but unless you have a system and coaching staff in place to utilize that talent, we're doomed to a repeat of 2015.

Its hard to see positives because of the results but I'm going to disagree with there being no improvement next year.

QB: This is a toss up. A lot of this will depend on the OC. Heard actually started to hit some intermediate routes in the last two games, but he seemed to hit the wrong receivers because Daje can't catch. We also don't know what Locksley and Buechele will do. I think we'll be fine there. The best is certainly ahead for this position, so this should be better.

RB: If you aren't optimistic about this position I don't know what to tell you. Johnson looks like the change of pace back with two hammers than can house it. This was with a young OL, so this is certainly a position that not only looks up compared to this past season, but could be the best in the conference.

WR: I really like our talent. Burt, Collin Johnson, Foreman and Newsome I think are a nice four for anyone. McNeal will do some damage as well I think. I think Johnson will be a great surprise for those that haven't seen him. Don't know how he is kept off the field.

OL: Consider the best players are the ones coming back, and OL generally get better with age. I think the best days are ahead.

DL: This is where I worried. Solid talent, but this is a place that good teams thrive at. We need talent, not just bodies.

LB: Don't get the concern. This position is young and these guys can play. Improve DL is what is needed. Notice how much the Tech game changed once Malik was out. Yes, his pass coverage has improved that much. Wheeler was a great tackler, and I think an offseason for size and pass coverage will make him a nice one. I think this position is fine. The DL makes it look worse than what it is.

DBs: I'm actually encouraged here. Corner I though really got better and better once they let Hill and Davis take over. Both are plus tacklers and have this great emotionless demeanor. Hill has a strange knack for the ball. Anytime a throw was off, he was all over it. Sign of a great DB. Davis isn't quit there, but great positioning and understanding of the position. I don't know if they will be stars, but I think that position is locked. Boyd was very raw. Spring will only improve him. Where we need improvement is speed at safety. Haines is in position, but is a beat slow if the throw is on time. Perhaps Boyd ends up at a safety? We need his speed somewhere. Perhaps this is a better position for Bonney? and Boyd at Nickel.

I know that sounds like a lot of sunshine, but seriously, the DL is what concerned me most. A good DL and LB play looks better against the run, and Safeties get and extra beat to make it to throws. DL and QB to me are the real concerns. OL is young and improved as the year went. DL and QB must perform and Charlie knows it. Otherwise, his time at Texas is short. They perform and we stop talking about other coaches.

Everything will depend on a new OC and QB coach. Hard to say Texas will be better if the choice for the ND game is Heard, a RS Freshman (if he does not transfer to play for his father) or a true Freshman.

Probably closer to serviceable than outstanding; although again will depend on who the new OC and receivers coaches are. Burt seems to be able to get open only on one route.

The concern is other than Jenkins and Jefferson no one seemed to be able to play the position. Next year Jenkins will be gone and the hopes are the new DC can somehow teach Jefferson how to play the pass.

Nothing will change unless the Freshmen who played this year will listen to the new DB coach. Until they prove they can get off the field on 3rd and 4th downs, they will be the weak link.

Charlie has to go get immediate help ( JUCO or transfers ) at QB and DL....and even OL if he doesn't have RS guys who can step in and play well on campus. He has to win next season; and plugging in Freshmen ain't cutting it no matter how good they may be in time. Charlie doesn't have time. To compound his problems he really needs to overhaul his staff, because it is obvious there are coaching deficiencies that are getting us beat against the lesser teams, and keeping us from being competitive against the top teams.

Charlie screwed up making the Freshmen think they were God's gift to football.

Count the number at LB an you might get concerned. Number od bodies is fine at DL positions maybe not the talent.

Rember it was tech before raving over the RBS.

Depth is useless if talent is weak, and you are only as good as your second string talent because injuries are going to happen.
