Acy told Horns247 on Sunday that his interest level is Texas is "high."

“I really like how Coach (Charlie) Strong run his program,” he said. “He’s all about putting kids first, and that sticks out to me. He wants to bring everything out of his players. Texas is also one of the most prestigious schools in the country.”

Acy recorded 89 tackles, 10 pass breakups and one interception as a junior.

Acy is extremely fast and physical. He has great football awareness and excels in man to man coverage. Acy has attended junior days with Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Arkansas.

”I thought this was the best camp as far as program tradition and this camp was by far the most organized and I believe I will benefit me in the future,” Acy said.

Wilmer-Hutchins head coach Elzie Barnett used him in a lot of different ways last season because of his unique blend of size, speed and agility.

"He's extremely fast and extremely physical," Barnett explained of Acy's talents. "He is smart in coverage and good at man-to-man coverage. He has long arms and he is not afraid to come down and mix it up in the box.

Three-star safety Demarkus Acy (Dallas/Wilmer-Hutchins) never thought he’d be in this situation, having a Longhorns offer to think about. But he is because of a strong camp performance at Texas on Sunday.

“It means a lot,” he said of the offer he picked up on Tuesday. “Texas is one of my dream schools going back to the Vince Young days. I never thought I’d be in this predicament now. I’m really humbled.”

“I had to make a name for myself because I knew a couple of big DBs were supposed to be there,” he said. “I wanted the attention on me. I had to perform well so they would notice me.”

We’re told Acy was one of the standouts of the camp and really proved his worth, and it didn’t take long for the Longhorns to offer. What makes him worthy of a UT offer in his eyes?

“I think I’m a hybrid. I can play safety or corner. So I think I am an athlete,” he said. “I can flip my hips in transition. I can catch up to the receiver and I know how to use my arms.”

Acy recently called Coach Strong to set up an OV later this month (Jan). Though he says he's still solid to Mizzou, the first team all-state DB wants to get on campus and talk to the coaches and see how the program's set up.

I mean it’s Texas, so you’re going to have a little interest in it. But I don’t see them stealing me away from Missouri. I’m a hard commit to Missouri – I just want to get my family out to see different things.
