About 5 minutes into the Tenn game, I almost started a thread opining that Higgs should probably not take another shot until her Sophomore year. 1: I'm glad I refrained; 2: I'm glad she proved me so very wrong.
If we are to get to the NEXT level, we must have Lashann Higgs THIS year. We can live with her mistakes for now. Those will be minimized as the season progresses. She breaks down the defense and is lightning quick. Karen has brilliantly put the pieces together one by one. It is happening at Texas - HOOKEM!!!!!
I know how you feel. I think Higgs was one or none for nine from the three before this one. Her game is still very raw; huge room to grow. Now we need Atkins back and playing to her potential. That would be huge.
I love her energy - have from the first minute she stepped onto the court. But until today she always appeared rushed and out of control when finishing her drives, and was just off with her outside shot. Today, obviously, it came together for her. The game is slowing down, and that is a very good sign. Agreed on Ariel. When we get her back we will have one of the deepest backcourts, if not the deepest, in the nation.
Again I praise the Coaching Staff, for getting the recruit to Texas. I agree the piece's are falling into place. I look forward to the season. Great game Higgs. Hookem'
Youth playing in a big time game. She only gets better from here. Outstanding. Being honest as well, I was worried too and had to take a double take when they flashed on the screen that she already had 14 points. She seemed out of control but clearly still got the job done.
