This board has endured the 2015 season with surprise, disappointment, frustration and angst. We all have our opinion of the coach, the coordinators, the position coaches, recruiting, on-field performance, the former university president, the former athletic director, the current university president, the current interim athletic director, changes to ticket prices and parking, etc. We now know ticket prices (will remain the same next season) and the schedule for 2016. I am asking you where you stand right now (before the Baylor game) on renewing your season tickets for 2016.
I will renew my season tickets for 2016. After the donation level policy changes and parking charges, we gave up a net of 3 last year (gave up six and acquired 3 to consolidate seats in current location) and still hold four 'not eligible for resale' seats.
I was born in Indiana and was raised as an Irish Roman Catholic. One of my closest friends is, like me, a bit on the wee side and Irish Roman Catholic. Unlike me, he has been in his fair share of bar fights. He is also from Austin, Minnesota, and has a son who is a freshman at Notre Dame. Do I want to show my fellow Catholic leprechaun from the home of Spam what life in Austin, Texas, is like at the UT vs ND game in Austin next year? Does the Pope s&!t in the woods?
Yes, but only because we play ND here. We are greatly reducing our Foundation donation after 30 plus years.
I am renewing, but 4 in my tailgate are not (12 seats). I will be able to wear my new "Chuck Chuck" hat that was not ready for the Tech game.
Nope. After 30+ years as a season ticket holder, I am throwing in the towel. Ticket prices, on- field performance and traffic congestion on the highways make a Shiner Bock, nachos and a big screen TV an unbeatable combination. Adios amigos.
Yes, been season ticket holder for over two decades, been through the good and bad no reason to jump ship now.
Probably not, but not totally decided. Same seats in the family since 1970. Hate having to deal with drunks in the stands (2 run-ins this season). Hate "open mic night" on the jumbotron (Cotton bowl handles theirs well, not ear splitting in volume, a few actual quiet moments, no mics in the hands of those that should NEVER have them.) On the other side, pressure from wife and kids to keep the tickets. Might go one more year, but the drunks and jumbotron ruin the experience.
Season ticket holder since 1990. Missed two home games in that time. Will renew but probably reduce donation level to what is needed to keep same seats.
5 years in renewing 3 may add 1 for my son since he will be 2 next year. Part of being a fan is cheering even when we suck makes it sweeter when you rub a win in other teams faces.
I got the renewal email yesterday. I find it hard to believe they are sending out renewal requests on December 9th.
Got my "Renew Now" e-mail, so I called UT. Me: "Will parking charges be dropped next year?" Poor Guy That Answered Phone: "No policy change yet. Looking into it." Me: "Will 'grandfathered' tickets be transferable?" Poor Guy That Answered Phone: "No policy change yet. Looking into it." Me: " Here's the thing, first UT says "Tickets cannot be transferred" Then UT says "Well, that only applies to StubHub." Then, after Perrin saw acres of empty seats, I got e-mails from UT telling me how happy they will be to help me facilitate transfers electronically, so I'm a bit confused as to what the policy really is." Poor Guy That Answered Phone: "No policy change yet. Looking into it." Me: "Well, after alienating your donor base and fan base with those policies, I suggest that UT stop looking into it,and actually do something instead of treating us like crap. I won't be renewing today, because UT has not earned any goodwill from me. If I renew, it will be at the very last second. Thanks. Goodbye."
I'm 100% sure I will get a discount of 0% on my tickets....therefore, I'm waiting until the last minute. Actually my criteria was 1. do well against baylor 2. good hiring decisions for open positions 3. results of recruiting class. #1 was positive we beat baylor. Waiting on #2 and #3 results.
BevoJoe has it right - It's weird how Texas thinks I learned nothing about finance when I was earning my finance degree. If I'm offered the choice between paying now or paying later and it's the same price either way, I'll pay later, unless you have previously done me a favor and I want to repay some of that goodwill. Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss. UT Athletics still thinks "We're Texas!" is enough goodwill for me to do them a favor, after the damage it did to fan and donor goodwill last year. I can find better uses for my year end cash flow. Seriously, it's right before Christmas - "Hey Kids! Guess what Daddy got the family this year! Early renewal of our Longhorn seats for next football season!"
