about what Charley did. The man worked his butt off. Deserves a long vacation to Hawaii sipping on maitais(?) The whole staff worked tirelessly. But i am still not sold on him being the head coach. Love him for everything else, especially a man of character and a very good defensive coach and recruiter. The jury is just still out for me. Rootin for his big success at UT though.
This NSD has to be one of the biggest marketing and planning by a UT Coach ever! Charlie pulled it off in grand style! After 5 years without a vacation or any time off including most holidays and weekends, I'm going back to Hawaii for 2 weeks in mid-October. Can't wait to get to the condo and slam mai tais!!
There can be no doubt about Charlie's work ethic. We also cannot doubt his resiliency and determination. The guy looked whooped a few times last year but the man has his vision and he has not compromised or wavered one bit from it (except where changes needed to be made - Watson) and that is very admirable. That earnestness is part of what has to appeal to the recruits and their parents. What parent would not want their kid to have Strong as an example. It was so good seeing him happy and chattering in his NSD press conference. I truly think that if we can turn the corner this year, we have our next championship coach. Its been bumpy and he has made some mistakes, but people learn and grow. And sometimes the ones that learn on the job, after they make their mistakes, they are the most solid dependable people you will find.
People forget that Charlie brought in Traylor and Norvell too, which paid dividends. I think everything is in place now. Just need to show it in wins and consistent game day focusness.
