I am hearing rumors that Strong told Fowler not to tell LSU he was coming here. Does anyone know if this is true?

I don't know about Fowler in particular, but Charlie has stated that he suggested to the young men to tell him if they were coming to Texas then wait till NSD and have their moment. He said "Once the other schools know where you are going, they know who to attack."
Gutsy call, but it worked this time.

I have no inside information. However, look at the facts. It was common knowledge that Fowler was trying to choose between just LSU and UT. Fowler took the OV to Texas on 1/15 and to LSU the next week. Predictions for Fowler were erratic after the middle of January, but there was a large opinion that he was leaning to UT after the visits. The key is that Fowler did not remove his commitment to LSU until actually on NSD.

The inferences are thus. Charlie did not seem to have a policy of telling the players not to remove their commitment. Fowler seems to favor an attitude of being up front. LSU would have known that the team to attack would have been UT. After all, Fowler's high school was only a few miles from Austin. I think the evidence is that Erick was truly conflicted (at least to within one day before NSD). Why would he not be truthful with LSU about his leanings. If anything, Erick did not want to remove the commitment because he was not sure whether his possible future coaches would be at LSU. To me, the rumors do not make sense.

I want to see Fowler on campus and make it all official. He's one more important piece of Charlie's masterpiece. Hook'Em!

Aaron Ross waited on the clearinghouse for 2 years. Are we really going to hear something so quickly on Fowler?

Last year, if I recall correctly, it was the week that fall classes started before Buck Major finally made it through the NCAA clearing house. And, IIRC, Devonaire Clarington was still optimistic even after classes started. One can only wait and hope that it sooner or later works out for the kid and the team.
