Super Bowl Controversies - America Today

Growing up in the 70's and 80's, I loved the NFL especially the Oilers lead by a great running back named Earl. Even though the Oilers never made the Super Bowl, I loved the game each year. The Cowboys Steelers game was a classic.

I did not even watch the game this year. Instead, my daughter and I volunteered at a local homeless shelter. Sounded like the game was great, but I am glad I missed it due to the controversies. It is a terrible statement on where America is today.

Let's start with an apparent homage to the Black Panther party for a halftime show.

Doritos was attacked for humanizing a human fetus.

Quicken Loans attacked for innovating an easier mortgage process.

Cam Newton's sore loser approach to post game.

I am done with the NFL. However, I think it is an excellent example of what a desperate situation our country is in. I do not see a candidate on either side capable of repairing the deep divide between races or political affiliations.

The anti-cop, anti-white, anti-establishment group has become emboldened and, in too many instances, accepted. The sad part is that the millennials know nothing else.

Suppose a white artist had performed at halftime and had made the event a tribute to David Duke, White Supremacy, or even a special salute to the Confederacy? Imagine the media outrage. There would be calls to have the artist blacklisted, calls for boycotting the network that broadcast the event, and probably demands that the NFL be sued with the proceeds going to Black Lives Matter. But since it was the reverse of that, everyone is suppose to feel shamed that the evil white man exploits blacks; even as Beyoncé cashes in on her show.

Well sorta. The audio was so crappy it was hard to hear. I totally missed the Beyatchce hubbub. I didn't hear about it until the next day. But then I also missed the goofy dancing shark that kept messing up last year and Janet Jackson's nipple.
