have the EASIEST non-conference schedule in all of college football for 2016..................chew on that awhile Briles you POS! http://texas.247sports.com/Bolt/ESPN-ranks-2016s-easiest-non-conference-schedules-43635704
Yeah, what a joke of an OOC schedule. They'll pay the price when the NCAA Playoff Politburo, I mean committee rank them out of the top 4.....again.
This is one of the many reasons why I NEVER want or would consider that A$$ Clown for our coach! He has no ETHOS and Baylor is no more a Christian school than Sidom & Gomorah!
Ha! Da bearz keeping up a recent tradition - a super soft OCC schedule. 2016: Mighty Northwestern State U. in La, SMU (won 2 games in '15) and Rice (won 5 games in '15) 2017: Football powerhouses - Liberty U., UTSA & Duke Future schedules were full of: Incarnate Word, UTSA, Abilene Christian, La Tech, Tx State, etc.
It's like they don't even want to put themselves in a good position for the playoffs. Why schedule like that when the year-end implications are so well established? Unless you're undefeated, good luck.
I wonder if their strategy is somewhat based on: new stadium they owe a lot of money on, need to keep the seats full and win home games against anybody. Keep those seats full and keep the fans happy that they have a "winning" program. Maybe they are less concerned about the playoffs at this point... just my 2 cents.
To my way of thinking, the most impactful elements of the playoff resume are as follows: 1) Overall won-loss record (except for Bama's automatic get one loss free card). 2) Conference affiliation (SEC > year before's NC winner's conference if not SEC > all other Power-5 conferences + Notre Dame > non-power-5 conferences). 3) Individual school traditional power name recognition. 4) Strength of out of conference schedule. So by that standard, if Baylor is 12-0, they will get into they playoffs unless there are at least 4 other undefeated teams or 3 undefeated teams plus Bama with one loss. I think there are very few scenarios that hurt an undefeated team from a power-5 conference with a weak OOC schedule. I'm of the belief that UT should go to an all patsy OOC schedule.
$EC teams have patsy OOC schedules, so why not Baylor or anyone else? ( Look at Aggy for just one example.) Especially if the big dogs refuse to come to your house and play you. I'm sure Bama and others want no part of Baylor's offense early in the season. Don't reply that we held them in check...Their offense was crippled when we played them. Had they had their players they would have put up even more than Tech did on us.
Don't we all....Point is Teams with something to lose, like power 5 teams, don't want to start out their early season with a knot on their head. Especially if they get beat to a tune of 55-28 or worse.
Yes, very understandable and a good point. However, there are many P5 teams that could at least put up a good fight, the likes of Illinois, Pitt, Virginia, VT, Colorado etc, a win over which would look much better than wins versus UTSA, Incarnate Word, Liberty, or Savannah State and scoring 60-75 points. That's unimpressive.
